Before she became a punch line due to her “Psychic Friends”, Dionne Warwick was known for her distinctive sophisticated singing voice that may have defined what Adult Contemporary music. That may prove to her main obstacle for induction as there is no doubt that she had an impact with her multiple chart hits, she may not have been a huge influence and her “Rock” credibility is limited at best. A shelf full of Grammies may have to do for now.

Dionne Warwick's got 3 things working against her. #1...she's black. #2...she's female. Either one of these things makes you irrelevant with the white rock establishmen t. Put these two things together and you're all but invisible to the wanna-be-coo l boy's club that is the RRHOF. And #3...(as of this writing) she's alive. The RRHOH prefers their female inductees dead or at least too ill to show up and perform. Dusty Springfield was on her deathbed the evening of her induction. Literally the day following Donna Summer's death the chairman of the RRHOF nominating committee called her omission an "error" to "be rectified next year"...and it was. The urgency to induct Linda Ronstadt (who had been eligible for 20 years without even a single RRHOF nomination) only came about because she made public that she had Parkinson's disease and was no longer able to sing. The RRHOF is an organization of mostly unknowledgea ble, phony, opportunisti c posers who have bought and politically positioned itself as some sort of authority on rock 'n roll. THEY ARE NOT. And they will only honor Dionne after she's dead. Only in death will she have truly done something worthy of their consideratio n. Rant over. Don't drink the kool-aid.

Worthy of consideratio n. Her vast storehouse of Top 40 Hits here in America is very impressive over many years. Whether it can be classified as "Rock & Roll" however would be up for debate.
