gold star for USAHOF

Not in Hall of Fame News

Although we don't have any current plans to create a TNA "Notinhalloffame" section, we would like to congratulate Sting as being the first inductee to the TNA Hall of Fame.  As we have mentioned before, we do no know how this will progress, but with the possible exception of Jeff Jarrett, Sting is a good choice to kick off their Hall.

RIP: Bob Welch

The World of Rock and Roll has anothe casualty as former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and 70's Solo star, Bob Welch passed away today at the age of 66 to a self inflicted gun shot to the chest.  Welch was with Fleetwood Mac in the "transition years" of 1971 to 1974 and was not part of the bands mainstream explosion in 1975.  Welch did however have success on his own with the release of "French Kiss" which yielded the hits "Ebony Eyes and "Sentimental Lady".Welch was snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as he was not part of…
We have another major retirement in the world of sports and it comes to us again from Detroit.  Although Magglio Ordonez will not be a sure Hall of Famer like Nicklas Lidstrom was (who retired from the Red Wings earlier in the week), he will appear on the ballot and does have a career to be proud of.The native Venezuelan retires with 2,156 Hits, 294 Home Runs and a career .309 Batting Average.  With Six All Star Appearances, Ordonez was a solid contributor in the middle of both White Sox and Tiger lineups for years.  He is unlikely to get…
The owner of TNA Wrestling, Dixie Carter, has announced that they will be beginning their own Hall of Fame.  As the WWE Hall of Fame is a fairly significant part of our website, we are frankly a little curious as to how we should react. The first inductee will be announced on June 10th, on their next Pay Per View titled "Slammivarsary" to be held in Arlington, Texas.  The WWE Hall of Fame has proven to be a moneymaker for the organization, and many wrestlers consider it to be an honor to be placed in that institution.  In fact, Ric Flair, who…
...and he is a sure fire Hall of Fame entry and virtually guaranteed to be in our top three when he is eligible.  How can he not be when you look at this resume?Four Stanley CupsOne Olympic Gold MedalTwelve All Star AppearancesSeven Norris Trophy WinsOne Conn Smythe WinAns this just the highlights!  The Swedish born Lidstrom played his entire NHL career for the Detroit Red Wings and they sure got their money's worth.  His career stat line shows 1,142 career points and a plus/minus of 450.   He will eligible for the Hockey Hll of Fame in three years, and we…
And it was not an easy decision.  "The Macho Man" Randy Savage passed away last year, and often when these deaths happen a renewed look at their legacies will take place.  With a perfect voting record from all of you, and the belief that Savage's ascension took place at the WWE's greatest heights, it was believed that for this year, he would be placed over Bruno Sammartino who slipped to a close number 2.This was not the only change on the list as many moved from "Future Candidates" to the regular list.  The highest debut came from the current executive,…
Frankly, we never really thought we would supplant Bruno Sammartino as the number 1, candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame.  However, based on votes that have came in, and a revised perspective on Randy Savage's role in the modern WWE (as opposed to Sammartino's in the 60's and 70's), it seemed appropriate to flip the two.  This may be only for a year, as this decision did not come easy, but we do feel it is the right one. This was not the only change as many who were placed in the "Future Candidate" section have been transfered to the…
We have to hand it to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.  In a brief period of time, they have made their Hall matter with both a strong physical presence and a logical selection process.  Basketball could learn from that!  They have announced their latest HOF class and three of our top four selections were named to this class.  Herb Thomas (1), Buck Baker (3) and first year candidate Rusty Wallace (4) are now headed to the Hall.  They will be joined by Cotton Owens and (22) and Leonard Wood who was inducted for his work as a mechanic.  We look…
For the second year in a row, the Canadian triumvirate of Rush remains number one on the Notinhalloffame Countdown of the 500 artists who we think should be considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was an easy decision really. Countless articles have lobbied for their induction, their peers have commented on their exclusion and the votes on this site make it clear that no other band could hold that spot this year. Although there is no change in the top spot, new first year eligible acts have entered the top 100. The highest of the “rookies”…

RIP: Donna Summer

Wow.  We were totally surprised by the death of Donna Summer.  The disco diva had been battling lung cancer, though few were aware of the ailment.  Summer has been nominated multiple times for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but has yet to receive the call.  She has been firmly entrenched in our top 100 since our inception, and though she has only been associated with the Disco genre, she was its queen.   We will miss her very much.
