The music world woke up to some sad news today.In what may be a suicide, Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog has died at the age of 52 while in tour in Detroit. Michigan.Born in Seattle, Cornell formed Soundgarden in 1984.  The group would release their first EP in 1987 and would be courted by multiple labels as they along with other Grunge bands of the area (Nirvana, Pearl Jam) were leading an alternative music explosion.  Prior to Soundgarden’s breakthrough to the mainstream in 1994, he formed Temple of the Dog, a grunge…
The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced their four member Class of 2017, and with two of them you certainly don’t have to be Canadian to know who they are.  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Neil Young, headlines this years Class.  Having written numerous songs and albums, it is actually ore of a surprise that he hasn’t been chosen already.  Young is joined by the politically conscious singer, Bruce Cockburn, who has had significant crossover success across the border.Montreal band Beau Dommage and French-Canadian composer, Stephane Venne rounds out the Class.The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony…
The UFC Hall of Fame has announced that longtime matchmaker, Joe Silva will be inducted into the Contributors Wing.Silva’s service with the UFC began in 1995 a consultant and later as the Head of Talent Relations, but the man who Dana White has called the “best matchmaker ever” set up over 3,000 contests in the UFC.  He retired in 2016 following the buyout from WME-IMG.Silva, along with the other members of this year’s UFC Hall of Fame Class will be inducted in Las Vegas on July 16.We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Joe Silva for this honor.  

RIP: Yale Lary

It was reported last night that Pro Football Hall of Famer Yale Lary died at the age of 86.  A star at Texas A&M, Lary was drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions, the team he would play his entire NFL career with.  Lary played eleven seasons in Motown, though he would miss two seasons serving his country.Named to the Pro Bowl nine times, Lary would also be named a First Team All Pro three times.  Lary would record 50 Interceptions with 787 Return Yards with two of them going back for Touchdowns.  The star Defensive Back would…

Last December, Out Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame announced it’s third full class as voted by a one year long vote by the public. That class comprised Apollo Creed (Rocky), Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez (The Sandlot) and Charlie Conway (The Mighty Ducks) and they joined previous inductees; The Hanson Brothers (Slap Shot), Reggie Dunlop (Slap Shot), Happy Gilmore (Happy Gilmore), Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn (Major League), Crash Davis (Bull Durham), Roy Hobbs (The Natural) and Rocky Balboa, the inaugural inductee.  Like in previous years, the opening round began with over 300 Fictional Athletes and over 100 Contributors, which has been reduced…
We are a little late in taking a look at this at this, but a very significant retirement has taken place in the National Basketball Association.  Los Angeles Clipper, Paul Pierce announced prior to the 2016-17 season that this would be his last in the National Basketball Association.  With the Clippers first round exit at the hands of the Utah Jazz, the career of Pierce officially came to an end.A First Team All-American in 1998 at the University of Kansas, Pierce was drafted 10th overall by the Boston Celtics and would immediately become a starter.  Pierce would really blossom in…
