While baseball is in a struggle between labor and management as to whether or not there will be a 2020 season, we know now that Denard Span won’t be a part of any 2020 campaign regardless. Span, who did not play in 2019, announced that he is officially retired due to what he considered unimpressive offers from Major League teams.   The Outfielder made his Major League debut in 2008 with the Minnesota Twins, where he played five seasons, peaking on 2009, where he led the American League in Triples (10) with a .311 Batting Average.  Span would later play for Washington,…

The sad days keep on coming. In a statement from his family, it was announced that Wes Unseld passed away at the age of 74.  According to his family, he had battling health issues for some time, namely pneumonia.   A two-time All-American at Louisville, Unseld was drafted by the then Baltimore Bullets with the second overall pick in 1968.  He played his entire career with the team, as they moved from Baltimore to Washington, and the Center was the unquestioned leader of the team during his tenure. It was announced today that Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Floyd Little, 77, is battling cancer.   A GoFundMe page has been set up by Patrick Killorin, his teammate at Syracuse to help with the expenses to fight the disease. Little was a three-time All-American, and his number 44 was retired by the Orange. The Halfback was chosen seventh overall in the 1967 Draft by the Denver Broncos, which would be the only NFL team he ever played for.  In his nine-year career, Little was a five-time Pro Bowl Selection and would rush for 6,323 Yards, with another 2,418 accumulated in the air.   After…

Hall of Fame related news continues for us, as Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has announced that six athletes and five builders will be entering their Hall. The six new athletes are: Jackie Barrett: Barrett won 13 Gold Medals at the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Sonja Gaudet: Gaudet won three Gold Medals at the Paralympics (2006, 2010 & 2014) in Wheelchair Curling. Diane Jones-Konihowski:  Competing as a Pentathlete, Jones-Konihowski won the Gold Medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games and the 1975 and 1979 Pan American Games.  Lorie Kane: From Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Kane won four tournaments on the LPGA Tour with seven…
