223. Nickelback

Oh boy. We talk about a lot of bands being polarizing, but Nickelback just takes it to a very strange level. The people who hate the Canadian band are numerous and they are about as critically despised as it gets. Yet they sell millions of records and fill arenas through a passionate fan base. Somewhere in between is where we could categorize them.

383. Mogwai

An Instrumental band from Scotland, Mogwai challenged the rules of success of traditional Rock and reset the rules for others to follow. A bit Experimental, a bit Indie, and a lot Alternative; Mogwai is very much respected, but it is this a Hall of Fame outfit?   It will take a lot of changes in perception to point to no.

125. Modest Mouse

An Indie Band that shockingly made good, Modest Mouse took about a decade to make the mainstream, but once they did, caught the attention of the world. Whether or not they can keep that momentum is in doubt as their successful album of the late 00’s seems like a distant memory, but any Indie band that makes good (even if for a brief time) does matter in the Rock and Roll spectrum.

Maxwell

Should Neo-Soul ever get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a fringe possibility would be Maxwell, who scored number one albums in both Mainstream and R&B. One of the more ambitious of that genre, Maxwell certainly had the love of the critics and the fans, but does this genre have a Hall of Fame shot.
