Flogging Molly

Creating a sensational blend of Celtic music and Punk, Flogging Molly was a decent band that for many American listeners was the first taste of any kind of Celtic music at all. With that said, many (including us) don’t feel that they should see any real taste of the Hall unless the Pogues get in first; and that does not seem very likely in itself.

Five for Fighting

The stage name of John Ondrasik, Five For Fighting features Adult Contemporary sounding piano based American Rock and Roll. Ondrasik achieved some success mostly from his hit, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and is primarily known for that song alone. Overall, he is a good performer, but you can’t be known for only one song and expect to cruise into Cleveland.

317. Erykah Badu

The unquestioned Queen of Neo-Soul, Erekah Badu was an R&B superstar that was more of a throwback to the sultry chanteuses of the past as opposed to her contemporaries. Badu was not just a soulful Neo-Soul singer as she could effortlessly switch to Jazz or Hip Hop, and she had a broad appeal to those fans. Badu is still recording and her story isn’t yet written. It will be interesting to see how her career is perceived over time.

Derek Trucks

Born to be a Blues Rock Musician (he is the nephew of the drummer of the Allman Brothers), Derek Trucks has had a decent career with his own Blues outfit. Considered one of the top guitar players of his day, Trucks has a lot of fans, but there is a very long line of Blues Guitar superstars ahead of him who should be considered for the Hall first.
