As great an actor as Clint Eastwood (we will argue that successful as he was that he was criminally underrated) we wanted to only watch him shoot people and kick ass. As such, nobody really wanted to see Clint as Red Stovall, a dying country singer whose goal was to play the Grand Ole Opry before he passed away. Although this was far from a hit, it did receive solid critical acclaim, and if you can forget that this is Dirty Harry, it is worth watching. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Honky Tonk Man (1982) Actor: Clint Eastwood Songs you might remember: There’s No Sweeter Cheater Than You Why you should vote for him: Clint will kill you if you don’t vote for him. Why you should not vote for him: This is not how we want to see Eastwood, and the Country factor works against him. {youtube}

The final film of Bernie Mac’s career saw him pair up with Samuel L. Jackson as the backup singers of a Motown band called “The Real Deal”. Decades later after the passing of their lead singer who had long since left them and became a huge success (played by John Legend) they reunite and go on tour and make it to the famed Apollo Theatre, though of course with the standard trials and tribulations you would expect along the way since they have not spoken to each other in thirty years. This didn’t do well at the box office (isn’t that the case always after someone died?) and since Jackson is in every other movie we aren’t sure how well remembered this is. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Soul Men (2008) Actors: Samuel L. Jackson (Louis Hinds) Bernie Mac (Floyd Henderson) John Legend (Marcus Hooks) Songs you might remember: I’m Your Puppet Why you should vote for them: You have to love Jackson and Bernie Mac…well; we do anyway! Why you should not vote for them: The film was average…at best! {youtube}

It does not matter how famous you are. Eventually, somebody younger and more attractive is going to take your place. This is where we first meet Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) who is the “Queen of Country” who is falling from her perch. It is a great role, where Jaymes’ singing is only a backdrop, as her personal life is far more interesting, with issues with her father, husband and everything else you can imagine. Britton does a great job here, and could be a dark horse for our Hall of Fame; should you consider her Rock enough! The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Nashville (2012-) Actors: Connie Britton Songs you might remember: Stompin’ Grounds Why you should vote for her: This is a legend in the world of Fictitious Country music. Why you should not vote for her: The country factor could come in play here. {youtube}

In Pete Townshend’s Concept Album/Concert Film, Pyschoderelict, we learn of the story of Ray High, a 60’s rock star whose life has fallen apart from drug and alcohol abuse. He is lured back to recording music through a bizarre scam and the though the material is unique, the music was far from his best work. The Bullet Points: Album Appeared: Psychoderelict (1993) Performer: Pete Townshend Songs you might remember: English Boy Why you should vote for him: This is a Rock and Roll legend after all. Why you should not vote for him: This was poorly received and barely remembered. {youtube}
