gold star for USAHOF

37. Elton Brand

37. Elton Brand

The Chicago Bulls had the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, and they took Elton Brand, the Duke sophomore who was named the ACC Player of the Year, and National College Player of the Year.

There was hope that the Power Forward would reinvigorate the Bulls and lead them back to championship contention. That is hard to do when a team only keeps you for two years.

As a rookie, Brand co-won the Rookie of the Year with Steve Francis of the Houston Rockets, who was taken with the second.  Brand averaged 20.1 Points and 10 Rebounds per Game.  Brand had the most Offensive Rebounds as a rookie, and he was Chicago's premier offensive player.  The year after, he matched his 20.1 Points and had 10.1 Rebounds per Game.  These were good numbers, but the Bulls never made the playoffs those years.  They went another route and traded him to the Los Angeles Clippers for Tyson Chandler. Brand would later go to two All-Star Games as a Clipper.

Despite only being a Bull for two years, he belongs here, as his 20.1 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 20.5 PER holds strong.
