2016 has been a very good year for us at Notinhalloffame.com.
As we have been accumulating more members and more attention for other projects, The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame and the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we feel that 2017 will be another year of growth for our sites.
Here is what we have in mind for 2017.
Podcasts.
This seems like the natural progression for us. The initial plan is to have our first show up by mid-February and it will look at countdown shows, what is new in the world of Halls of Fame, what we are working on and who took a step closer (or back) from the ultimate accolade, The Hall of Fame!
We plan to have varying guests to go over sports and pop culture (what else) so rest assured you won’t only have to hear the voice of the Chairman!
The Rock and Roll Section.
By early February, we will have completed revising our 500 plus who warrant consideration for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This means taking out those who just got inducted and inputting the new eligible that can now be considered.
We will also be adding a Future Section encompassing those who will be eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall in 2027.
Top 50 All Times per Franchise
It is coming along slowly and surely. Coming soon in this order will be The Florida Panthers, Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, New York Mets, Toronto Raptors and New York Yankees. After that it could be any team. Seriously, we have picking them at random!
This also means that the few that we already have to update. Each Top 50 will state what year they are up to, and the eventual intention is to update them annually. Rather than wait to finish the first go around of each 50, we will update as we go. Look for the Charlotte Hornets and Houston Astros updates soon.
The Hockey Section
The eventual goal of the core four of team sports sections are to expand all of them to 250. Yes, we know those from 101-250 are not likely be Hall of Famers, it isn’t impossible and discussing the proverbial “Hall of Very Good” is still fun. Likely, the only one that we will complete in 2017 will be our Hockey section and the selection process has already gotten underway.
Dr. Johnny Pervert
While we can’t say that he brings the most highbrow entertainment, Dr. Johnny has brought ahem…attention. He has told us that he has another section coming next year. Dear God, help us all.

The WWE section has already been expanded but a look at the top 200 Wrestling Themes are in the works. Look for that in the Spring.
The History of #1 Songs.
We are almost at the end of the 1950’s and this will continue to be uploaded on a regular basis. The beautiful thing about this section is that we will never catch up to real time…nor do we want to!

Our Fictitious Rock and Roll HOF Announces the 2016 Class!

After three rounds and a full year of public online voting, the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced their second full class.
Joining last year’s first class of The Blues Brothers, Spinal Tap and the Monkees are Gorillaz and Tenacious D.
Like last year, these selections can be considered controversial as both groups certainly blur the line between real and fictional.
Gorillaz were this year’s runaway leader in the votes. Created by Blue front man, Damon Albarn and comic genius, Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz is a virtual band complete with four animated members:
2D (lead vocals & keyboard), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar & vocals), Noodle (guitar, keyboard and backing vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums). Each member has a distinct backstory and have actually toured live, sometimes fronted by animation and sometimes by the actual performers behind the group.
Tenacious D were also chosen. While they comprise comedic actors, Kyle Gass and Jack Black, they did have their own televsion program and had a fictionalized origin story film, “The Pick of Destiny”, thus “qualifying” them for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
These two inductees beat out the following finalists (in order of their vote totals) in the Final Round:
- Sex Bob-Omb (Scott Pilgrim Vs the World)
- The Be-Sharps (The Simpsons)
- Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem (The Muppets)
- Wyld Stallyns (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure)
- Jerome “Chef” McElroy (South Park)
- The School of Rock (School of Rock)
- Phoebe Buffay (Friends)
- Michigan J. Frog (Looney Tunes)
- Marvin Berry and the Starlighters (Back to the Future)
- Alvin and the Chipmunks
- The Wonders (That Thing You Do!)
- The Archies (The Archie Show)
- Hannah Montana (Hannah Montana)
Voting is now open for the Preliminary round for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class, which can be found here.
Like last year, there will be a Preliminary round leading to 40 Semi-Finalist Candidates, which will pared down to 15 Finalists.

This is not how we wanted to celebrate Christmas Day.
It has been reported that George Michael has died today at the age of 53. As of this writing, no cause has been given, only that he died peacefully at his home.
Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in London, England, George Michael first found success as one half of Wham! With Andrew Ridgeley. They would reach the charts in England in 1983 with their first album, “Fantastic”, which yielded hits like “Club Tropicana” and the “Wham Rap”, but it was in 1985 that true international stardom would come calling when their album, “Make It Big” became a chart topper across the globe. That album had the smash hits, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, “Careless Whisper”, “Freedom” and “Everything She Wants”. Following a farewell single, “The Edge of Heaven”, the band disbanded and George Michael embarked on a solo career, which would eclipse that of his previous one with Ridgeley.
Michael would release “Faith” in 1987 and as expected it was a huge hit everywhere. Aside from the album’s title track, the record released the then controversial single, “I Want Your Sex”, which due to the song’s suggestive lyrics was banned on some radio stations. Despite this, it was a critically beloved album and massive seller worldwide.
He would follow up with the album, “Listen Without Prejudice” gave us a more socially conscious artist, though one that would also be successful commercially. “Freedom 90’” and “Praying for Time” were number one hits from this album and this would essentially conclude the apex of his career as he would produce music far less frequently.
Notably, in 1998, Michael was arrested for engaging in a lewd act in a bathroom as part of a sting operation. It was revealed that it was with another man, basically outing the singer, though that had been suspected for some time. Regardless of his orientation, George Michael pushed the boundaries of sexuality with his music and was a bona fide sex symbol for men and women for well over a decade.
His health has been in decline for awhile, and it is not a day to speculate as to why.
Today, we have lost a great singer, a great musician and for some of us, a part of teen years.

Dave Abbruzzese talks about his omission from the RRHOF

As you all know Pearl Jam expectedly entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the first ballot. You might also know that Dave Abbruzzese, their former drummer will not be joining the band as he was not named amongst the members whom the Rock Hall deemed relevant enough to be inducted.
Of the five drummers that Pearl Jam had, the original, Dave Krusen and current drummer, Matt Cameron are being inducted. Krusen was let go from the band in 1991 following problems with alcohol but he was the drummer on their breakthrough album, Ten. Cameron joined the band in 1998 after performing for another potential Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, Soundgarden, who he also returned to drum for.
Abbruzzese joined in 1991 and was with the band until he was let go in 1994. He played on Vs. and Vitalogy, two very successful albums for the band.
He had the following to say on his Facebook page:
“So… Rock & Roll Hall of F**ktardia. Ergh. It makes absolutely zero sense to me… As the original ballot is created, the members of each eligible band are determined by largely who was present and active during the most influential recording years. I'm not sure how 275+ live shows and 38% of record sales doesn't fit their criteria…
The qualifications required for me to have been inducted with my former band mates certainly have been met. I challenge anyone to justify why I am not worthy of a place in the history of Pearl Jam. The official reason given from the RRHOF makes it bullshit. It makes my years of hard work appear to be worthless towards the success born of the formative years of Pearl Jam. This is simply not the case.”
Just what influence each inducted band has in regards to which members get in is certainly up for debate. Ultimately, the decision lies with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself.
Either way, it would not be a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class without a bit of controversy would it?
