It won’t be long before the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces who their Finalist for the next class and our friend from Chicago by way of Boston has put together his top 40 acts in terms of their chances who enter eligibility this year.

It was announced today that Hockey Hall of Famer Pierre Pilote passed away at the age of 85.

Pilote was one of the most accomplished Defenceman in the National Hockey League throughout the 1960’s and he was named the Norris Trophy winner three seasons in a row (1963-63). A member of the Chicago Blackhawks for 12 of his 13 seasons, Pilote was named a First Team All Star five times, a Second Team All Star three times and the native of Kenogami, Quebec was an integral reason why Chicago won the Stanley Cup in 1961.

The blueliner would serve as the team captain from 1961 to 1977 and he would score 418 Points over a 890 Game career.

Pilote’s #3 was retired by the Blackhawks in 2008 (along with Keith Magnusson who wore the same number) and he was inducted in to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame announced their five finalists for the Class of 2018 today, which features four Wimbledon Champions.

The five finalists are:

Pat Cash: Cash only won one Grand Slam, but it was the 1987 Wimbledon Title. The Aussie was also a finalist in his own country’s Grand Slam in 1987 and 1988. He won 12 titles overall in his career.

Michael Stich: Stich won the Wimbledon doubles title in 1992 and was the singles title winner in 1991. The German also was part of the 1993 Davis Cup winning team and won the 1992 Olympic Gold Medal in doubles with Boris Becker.

Anders Jarryd: Jarryd won eight Grand Slam doubles titles; the 1987 Australian, 1983, 1987 & 1991 French, 1989 & 1991 Wimbledon and the 1987 & 1991 U.S. The Swedish national also won an Olympic Bronze in Doubles.

Tom Okker: From The Netherlands, Okker was a Doubles champion in the 1973 French Open and was a Finalist in the ’68 U.S. Open.

Helena Sukova: A two time runner-up in four Grand Slams as a single, Sukova won 14 Grand Slams as a double. Representing Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic respectively she would win Silver Medals in the Olympics in doubles (1988 Seoul & 1996 Atlanta)

It should be noted that there are no nominees in the Contributor or Wheelchair Tennis categories.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame will announce their 2018 Class in the first quarter of next year.
