Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we maintain and update our existing Top 50 lists annually.  As such, we are delighted to present our pre-2025/26 revision of our top 50 Philadelphia Flyers.

As for all of our top 50 players in hockey, we look at the following: 

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Hockey League.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

4.  Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles that are not reflected in a stat sheet.

Last year, the Flyers again failed to make the playoffs, but there were three elevations.

As always, we present our top five, which remain unchanged.

Center Sean Couturier advanced to #21 from #29.

Another Center, Travis Konecny, climbed to #26 from #32.

Defenseman Travis Sanheim went up two spots to #45.

A two-time NCAA Champion with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Dylan Samberg was a Second Round Draft Pick by the Jets in 2017.  Samberg, who was drafted before his three-year run in Minnesota, was nearly NHL-ready when he signed his first contract with Winnipeg.

Samberg has thus far played four seasons with Winnipeg, and although he is not much of an offensive threat (although he did have 34 Points last year), his rock-hard defense has given Winnipeg two straight years of at least 110 Blocked Shots.

As Samberg just signed an extension with Winnipeg, he is likely to continue to climb this list.

1985 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS:

Thank you for your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946.

We have completed the years up to 1984.

For “1985,” a Preliminary Vote with nearly 100 players whose playing career ended by 1979. We are also following the structure, where players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool.

Each voter was asked to select 25 names from the preliminary list, and the top 25 vote-getters were named Semi-Finalists.

A week later, the voters were asked to pick 15 names from the 25 Semi-Finalists, and next week, they will pick five from the remaining 15. We will continue this process every week until we catch up to the current year.

31 Votes took place, with the top fifteen advancing.

This is a sad day for the Chairman.

Ace Frehley, one of the founding members of KISS, passed away yesterday at the age of 74.

Along with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss, KISS became one of the most successful bands of the 1970s, with Frehley as their lead guitarist.  Known as the “Spaceman”, Frehley brought the rock attitude to the band and was writing for some of the band’s songs, including “Cold Gin”, “Shock Me”, and “Parasite”.  In 1978, all of the KISS members put out solo albums, with Frehley’s generating the only hit, with his cover of “New York Groove”.

Frehley left the band in 1982 and continued with solo projects until rejoining KISS for a reunion tour in 1996.

KISS entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
