Getting Gay with Kids

Getting Gay With Kids
With a group name that seemingly could only be found on South Park, we have a choir group called “Getting Gay With Kids”. Musically, they were horrible, but in the episode where they appeared we got a cameo voice of Jennifer Anniston, a song about the rain forest, which had both positive and negative versions, and Mr. Mackey at his best. We can’t say a kids choir really belongs in this Hall of Fame, but damn, we laughed a lot watching it.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
South Park (1999)

Actor:
Trey Parker
Matt Stone

Songs you might remember:
We aren’t sure…though we know there is one pro-rainforest, and one anti-rainforest.

Why you should vote for them:
Like another South Park possibility, Fingerbang, we can argue just for the name alone.

Why you should not vote for them:
They were not that good, and we can’t say we even know what the name of the songs they did.

Gerry and Cookie Fleck

Gerry and Cookie Fleck
From another in the category of “we guess this qualifies” we have Gerry and Cookie Fleck (Eugene Levy and Catharine O’Hara) who were two of the eccentric characters of “Best in Show”; a quirky comedy about dog breeders who gather to compete in a dog show. Near the end of the mockumentary, we learn that the Flecks recorded terrier themed songs, though we can’t imagine they sold very well.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Best in Show (2000)

Actors:
Eugene Levy (Gerry Fleck)
Catharine O’Hara (Cookie Fleck)

Songs you might remember:
God Loves a Terrier

Why you should vote for them:
Levy and O’Hara is worth a little SCTV love.

Why you should not vote for them:
A thirty-second blurb does not a Hall of Fame entry make.

Georgia Flood

Georgia Flood
In an Oscar nominated performance, Mare Winningham was the titular character (though not the lead) of Georgia Flood, a successful folk singer. Her music was good, though she was not the tragic figure that so many celluloid musicians are shown as; that was her sister (Jennifer Jason Leigh). She was the adjusted happy one, and the dynamic with her troubled sister was far more interesting then the music she had in the film.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Georgia (1995)

Actor:
Mare Winningham

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for her:
This in Oscar nominated performance; there aren’t that many of them here.

Why you should not vote for her:
She was a successful musician; but it was the music of her sister that we saw more of.

George Webber

George Webber
Dudley Moore finally struck gold in his early 40’s as the lead in Blake Edwards’ “10”. He played composer, George Webber, who at the onset of his 42nd birthday acquired the midlife crisis, which sets the film in motion. The movie gave us the iconic scene with Bo Derek in cornrows, made Dudley Moore an instant sex symbol (and hero for short average looking men), but it did not give us any insight into Webber’s music which though was irrelevant to the film, is relevant here.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
10 (1979)

Actor:
Dudley Moore

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for him:
Dudley was great in this film; actually, this may have been his best work.

Why you should not vote for him:
The fact that he was a composer was irrelevant to the movie.
