From the first Austin Powers movie, Austin (Mike Myers) fronted Ming Tea, the 60’s Psychedelic band that closed the film with their rendition of “BBC”. This was consider by many (and us included) to be Myers’ best role, and we love anything involving our favorite Bangle, Susanna Hoffs, who was the lead guitarist. Austin Powers was one of the most quoted characters in film history, so do we have a dark horse candidate here?

Elvis Presley movies don’t exactly have a lot of legacy and “Fun in Acapulco” is a perfect example of one that is forgotten. Rather than go into detail about the plot, let’s just say that this was not one of the better films and that there were no signature songs from it. It does not help that this was released right at the time of the British Invasion, and this became irrelevant very quickly.

A very lame parody from a very lame prequel to the Flintstones, “Mick Jagged and the Stones” was a band that played at the Tardust Casino. Dear God, was this the best that they could do? Based on the Flintstones cartoon, yes it was! Still, we have a Duran Duran member in the band, which is all we needed to put this on the ballot.

Michigan J. Frog

For appearing in only one Looney Tunes sketch, Michigan J. Frog was sure remembered. He was in a box and unearthed by a construction worker who found that he could sing 1920’s songs with a booming voice; that is only when he was alone with the worker. When he tries to cash in, the frog just croaked and he was buried again only to be uncovered by another construction worker in the future. When the WB (Warner Brothers) formed a network, it was the Michigan J. Frog (we aren’t sure if that is when he got his name) who was used as the mascot. Still, what does a 1920’s singing frog have to do with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even if it is fictitious?
