Can I Touch You…There?
Highest Billboard Position:
#27 in 1995

Successful and despised can easily go hand in hand in the music industry.  Take the case of Michael Bolton.  The badly coiffed one was applauded by many women for his blue eyed soul vocals and love ballads.  Alternately, he was criticized by many for basically just doing covers and his unintentional schmaltz.  Incidentally, people who stood on either side had a very viable case.

After numerous covers, Bolton unleashed his Greatest Hits package which featured the new song, “Can I Touch You There?”  When you have a song title like that, you are asking for ridicule and the lyrics about touching deeper erased any doubt as to the double entendre he was going for.  Could be it that Bolton, after years of being made fun of for his love making lyrics was deliberately trying to make a snide comment and embrace the cheese that he was associated with?  Or, more likely was he just stupid?  Regardless, this was one of many songs that Bolton crooned that was best left on FM Lite stations across the country that were generally awful, but based on the visuals that the song title gave us, it easily makes our list.
