Well…..Tommy John is kind of going to be honoured by the Baseball Hall of Fame…..sort of.   In this years (lack of starstudded) Baseball Hall of Fame ceremony, Dr, Frank Jobe will be honoured for his work, prolonging the careers of many baseball pitchers. You may be more aware of him for the development of “Tommy John” surgery; which was initially performed on the aforementioned hurler in 1974.

That year, John was diagnosed with a ruptured MCL on his left elbow. Dr. Jobe attempted what was then a radical procedure by removing a tendon from John’s forearm and repairing the elbow. The surgery was a success and Tommy John would pitch for more than a decade. Countless pitchers (including Steven Strasburg from the Washington Nationals last year) have had the procedure and as such Dr. Jobe will be honoured. Tommy John will be in attendance.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced that Motown Records Founder, Berry Gordy will be honoured with the Pioneer Award at this year’s Award night. This is the second year of the Award’s existence, as last year it was given posthumously to Woody Guthrie. The Award was established to “honor the career of a historic creator of an extensive body of musical work that has been a major influence on generations of songwriters”. That label has to apply to Berry Gordy, who pioneered a genre that gave countless African American musicians and songwriters their start. We congratulate Berry Gordy on his latest achievement.
Our work on the existing Hockey Hall of Fame Classes continue. We have now made our way to the exciting year of 1968. Truthfully this wasn’t much of a class, but as we have stated, we far prefer the smaller groups as opposed to the large inductions that were typical of the years before. The class of 1968 is:

Bill Cowley

James Dunn

Jim Hendy

Gang you know the drill. Check it out, and cast your votes and let us know whether you think they deserved their Hall of Fame induction. Look for upcoming classes soon!
You may have noticed that we here at Notinhalloffame.com have gone a bit Hollywood.   As we expand our repertoire of content, we have added a few new sections that celebrate the silver screen.

Pioneered by our music blogger (Live Music Head), we have added a “Classic Movie Reviews” where many of the great films of the past are receiving another look. We anticipate a lot of fun with this section, as we think that this fits perfectly into what we are hoping our website will grow into.

As such, we have added a new blogger, Jack Ferdman, who will not only be contributing to the Movie Reviews, but will also have his own section where he gives us movie related lists. Our favourite blogger, DDT, has also gotten into the action, with his newest blog on his section, DDT’s Pop Flies.

We look for other contributions and welcome any new ideas here at notinhalloffame.com!
