Hill was a Linebacker at college, but Dallas tried him out at Running Back in the pre-season, and it was a match made in heaven. Hill rushed for 942 Yards and punched eight pigskins into the end zone. For his effort, Hill won the Offensive Rookie of the Year and was a Pro Bowl Selection and a First Team All-Pro. Hill was not as productive in the next two years, but he did help the Cowboys reach Super Bowl V and Super Bowl VI, winning the latter.
In 1972, Hill became the first Cowboy to rush for over 1,000 Yards, and he would do so again the following year. Hill went for 844 Yards in 1974, and from '72 to '74, he was a Pro Bowl selection.
1974 was the last year for Hill with Dallas, as he joined the Hawaiians of the World Football League, but he tore his MCL during the year. When the league folded, he signed with the Washington Redskins as a Free Agent. Hill would rush for 5,009 Yards and 39 TDs as a Cowboy.
