Known as “The Bull” for his stocky 255 pounds on his 6’ 1’’ frame, Greg Luzinski was one of the most popular players for the Philadelphia Phillies throughout the 1970’s.

In the mid to late 1970’s Luzinski was not just popular but a feared slugger.  The Bull was named a National League All Star four years in a row (1975-78) and in three of those seasons he belted 30 Home Runs with 100 RBIs.  He was also a .300 hitter three times in that stretch.  In this span he was the National League runner-up for the MVP twice (1975 & 1977) and was the league leader in Runs Batted In (’75).

Luzinski’s overall rank here is impacted by the fact that calling him atrocious in the Outfield would be an insult to the word atrocious.  The big man had six seasons with a Defensive bWAR of -1.5 or more and three over 2.0.  You can’t not take this into consideration when ranking Greg Luzinski.

Philadelphia chose Luzinski for the Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame in 1997.
