Haley Graham

Haley Graham
What was supposed to be “Bring it on” in the field of gymnastics, was a film that we fast forwarded through, and was sorry that Jeff Bridges was in. Haley Graham was the focal gymnast; so we’ll nominate her….we guess.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Stick It (2006)

Actor:
Missy Peregrym

Played for:
Vickerman Gymnastics Academy

Why you should vote for her:
Well, she is a gymnast with boobs. That doesn’t happen to often does it?

Why you should not vote for her:
This movie stunk.
Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump won an Academy Award for the Best Picture in 1994, but when the film was over it is certainly up for debate if any really viewed this as a sports film.

It wasn’t, it isn’t, and nor should it ever be, however when people really thought about it they realized that they saw the most versatile athlete of all time.

Think about this.

Gump was recruited by no less of a legend than Paul “Bear” Bryant to play football for the Crimson Tide and his Special Teams prowess took him to All-American status.  While the native of Greenbow did not turn pro, his foray into the army allowed him to stumble into the game of Ping Pong.  Gump was so talented that he represented the United States Army on a goodwill mission to China.  You might remember seeing him discuss his experience on the Dick Cavett Show!

In his civilian life, Gump took to running and would become known for his endurance, criss-crossing the country and back again.  Some would say his efforts were even inspirational!

The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame is pleased to welcome Forrest Gump into the Class of 2017.

Fast Eddie Felson
The only Fictitious Athlete on the ballot who appeared before 1970, we had the opportunity to witness “Fast” Eddie Felson in “The Hustler” in 1961 and the sequel “The Color of Money” in 1986. A quarter of a century may have passed between the movies, but the similarities of brilliant performances by Paul Newman and layered storytelling make this a character we are thrilled to see at different stages of life. Now seriously, how many characters on this ballot (with the same actor we stress) can we say that about?

Doug Remer

Doug Remer
As we discuss all of the Fictitious Athletes, we have a candidate from a fictitious sport. Matt Stone and Trey Parker gave us BASEketball, the hybrid of HORSE, Baseball, Basketball and trash talking; all in a post Generation X Slacker world. Stone played Doug Remer, slacker turned athlete, and the kind of guy you wanted to hang around with in high school. He was a bit of the sidekick in the film, but his mini transformation to sports diva was equal part satire and hilarity. That may be good enough for a lot of people.
