It wasn’t that Tanner Boyle was a great player for the Bad News Bears (as he wasn’t), or that he was the star of the films (he wasn’t even in the third); however he was the favorite of many Bears fans for his foul mouth and feisty attitude. Boyle would not necessarily be the one given the best lines in the movies, but he was given the crudest; all of which was funnier with his short stature and floppy blonde hair. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Bad News Bears (1976) The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training (1977) Actor: Chris Barnes Position Portrayed: Shortstop Played for: The “Bad News” Bears Why you should vote for him: He may not have been the best player, but he was the heart of the team. Why you should not vote for him: If you are politically correct, he isn’t a character you can vote for. {youtube}

Arguably the most evil brother/sister duo in sports films, Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenberg (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) took despicable to a new low. They tricked their sister into believing that she was responsible for her parent’s death, kidnapped their competition, and had an incestuous relationship. They may have been too old to play these roles, but it would have been hard to find people who could have played it funnier. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Blades of Glory (2007) Actor: Will Arnett & Amy Poehler Played for: U.S.A. Why you should vote for them: They made despicable a lot of fun. Why you should not vote for him: Weren’t Arnett and Poehler too old (by at least fifteen years) to be a pairs figure skating duo? {youtube}

We can’t remember anything he said in this movie, nor do we think that the actor who played him did anything else, but we do remember this…..Sonny Pintubi won the Marathon in the Olympics. If this movie gets an induction, how can it not be for this Aboriginal superstar? The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Games (1970) Actor: Athol Compton Ran for: Australia Why you should vote for him: He won the race. Enough said. Why you should not vote for him: He won in the same way that Adrianne Barbeau won in the Cannonball Run. Sure they won, but who remembers that fact?

As unlikely as Gene Wilder is in any athletic role, we will say that we loved (as we are sure many did) him as the prison inmate turned rodeo star. Did he look the part? Hell no; but this is one of those cases where it didn’t matter one bit. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Stir Crazy (1980) Actor: Gene Wilder Why you should vote for him: This is a comedic legend; that could be worth something. Why you should not vote for him: It is a prison rodeo; not exactly the Super Bowl.
