337. Foghat

If you try to find any write up about Foghat that did not describe them as a basic Blues Rock band it might be the first one ever written. In some circles in the 70’s it wasn’t considered cool to be a straight up Rock band, but to those who were into “uncool” music, Foghat delivered some pretty good material. It likely won’t be enough to get them into the Hall, but they have a pair of hits that looks like will live on long after this debate ends.

You could only come up with one favorite Foghat song? "I Just Want to Make Love to You," "Stone Blue," "Drivin' Wheel"--and how could anyone forget "Slow Ride"? Along with "Fool for the City," there's your top five!

Is that enough to get them into the Hall? Probably not. Which doesn't make them any less enjoyable when you stumble across them now. That's rock and roll for you.

Right there with BTO and Grand Funk and Bad Company and Deep Purple. Not monster careers, but many of their hits are absolutely seminal Classic Rock songs.

Although Foghat would be 5th on the above list, there should be an eventual place for them in the Hall.
