365. Toni Braxton

It isn’t a question as to whether Toni Braxton has the commercial success that the Hall might be looking for.  Where she might fail is that as much as she was thought of as an R&B diva she is equally remembered as an Adult Contemporary superstar.  It is the latter that could be a problem for as much as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been criticized for allowing in musicians who symbolize styles that are not considered Rock; Adult Contemporary is not one if them.  This all makes a wonderful musical career but are we looking at one that could make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?  This could be a difficult road.

19. Wu-Tang Clan

When the Wu-Tang Clan arrived in 1993, they rewrote the book on how Rap was to be done.  As a collection of MC’s, Wu-Tang became stars immediately and their collection of rappers would become the equivalent of a Rapping All Star Team.

239. The Roots

If you only know The Roots from their role as the house band on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk show, than you really don’t understand just how important this group is.

Grant Lee Buffalo

Grant Lee Buffalo’s blend of Alternative and Americana made them seemed poised for a major breakthrough in the 90’s.  It didn’t happen, and although the mainstream never gravitated to Grant Lee Buffalo, the fans that did loved them and they developed a devoted core audience.  They won’t get a look form the Hall, which is sad because they at least deserved that.
