Susie Diamond

Susie Diamond
With Michelle Pfeiffer at her sexiest and most talented, Susie Diamond was a knockout, was charismatic and with a unique past and sultry singing voice, was just the talent that the Fabulous Baker Boys needed to keep their act fresh. Pfeiffer won multiple acting awards and really cemented herself as a serious player in Hollywood with this role…and she looked good doing it too!

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989)

Actor:
Michelle Pfeiffer

Songs you might remember:
More Than You Know

Why you should vote for her:
Can we play the great acting card here?

Why you should not vote for her:
She was sultry…but average as a singer. Besides, you can vote for her as a package with the Fabulous Baker Boys if you are so inclined.

The Suburbans

Suburbans The
We’ll be honest as until we started this Hall of Fame, we did not even know that this existed. As it turns out we found a rare miss by Will Ferrell (not his fault) and J.J. Abrams (the producer) about a one hit wonder who reunites. Sadly after finding this (while drunk) we don’t really remember what that hit was and imagine that those involved in the film forgot too.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
The Suburbans (1999)

Actor:
Donal Ward (Danny, Lead Singer)
Craig Bierko (Mitch, Guitar)
Will Ferrell (Gil, Bass)
Tony Guma (Rory, Drummer)

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for them:
Only because of Will Ferrell.

Why you should not vote for them:
We only watched this because we had to. Nobody else saw this.

Suburban Funk

Suburban Funk
It is hard to imagine DJ Qualls playing anything remotely tough, but that is what he did in the “New Guy” where he went from a zero to a hero and reinvented himself as a tough guy from the wrong side of the tracks. Before Qualls (whose character name was Dizzy, became Gil Harris) he was part of a Funk band, who made an appearance at the end of the film joining the former Dizzy. The film did well, though the fact that they were in a Funk band (that only did covers) was not really relevant other than (we think) a plot device to get the Zooey Deschanel more scenes.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
The New Guy (2002)

Actor:
DJ Qualls (Dizzy/Gil Harris)
Zooey Deschanel (Nora)
Parry Shen (Glen)
Jerod Mixon (Kirk)

Songs you might remember:
Play That Funky Music

Why you should vote for them:
They weren’t that bad.

Why you should not vote for them:
Playing covers and not exactly being relevant to the plot doesn’t help the cause.

Street Slim

Street Slim
The Blues Brothers may be one of our favorite films of all time (and we suspect if you are reading this, one of yours!), but this was added at the last minute, as we never really knew until recently that John Lee Hooker had a character name. We saw Hooker in an extended cameo where he sang one of his signature songs (Boom Boom Boom) on the street of Chicago, in a spot that did nothing to further the plot along, but was a delightful segment nonetheless. Now if only Aretha Franklin qualified!

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
The Blues Brothers (1980)

Actor:
John Lee Hooker

Songs you might remember:
Boom Boom Boom

Why you should vote for him:
This is a legendary film for our purposes.

Why you should not vote for him:
Calling this an acting performance is a stretch by any definition.
