Not in Hall of Fame News

Some say that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.  For us at Notinhalloffame.com, it is the month after, where “Hall of Fame Season” is in its apex, with the announcement of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Finalists. We at Notinhalloffame.com, held our mock committee meeting last month, where we pushed through our 15, which differs from the actual Hall (as expected). The 15 Pro Football Hall of Fame Finalists of 2023 are: Jared Allen: Defensive End.  2004-07 KC, 2008-13 MIN, 2014-15 CHI, 2015 CAR.  Allen advances for the third straight year, and has been a Finalist in all…
Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  We have a new one to unveil today, that of the San Francisco Giants. The franchise began in 1883 as the New York Gothams, changing their name to the Giants shortly after.  In the pre-modern World Series era, New York won the 1888 and 1889 Pennants, and in 1905, they captured their first World Series. The Giants won the World Series again in 1921, 1922, 1933, and 1954, but like the Brooklyn Dodgers,…

RIP: Art McNally

A year after he became the first official to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Art McNally passed away at 97. You cannot tell the story of officiating without the name of Art McNally.  Considered to be the “Father of Modern Officiating”, McNally began his NFL career in 1959 as a field judge, and would be a referee from 1960 to 1968.  Afterward, McNally would become the supervisor of officials, and he modernized the role through extensive training.  In 1986, McNally brought in instant replay, and helped to bring modern technology to the role.  McNally, was a consultant up until seven…
If you are a regular visitor at Notinhalloffame.com, you know that we created the Notinhalloffame NBA Cup, where in every regular season game, we award points (5-4-3-2-1) to the top five performers.  This is the third year that we have done this, and Denver’s Nikola Jokic won the first two. To keep everyone regularly in the loop this time, we have decided to give regular updates, starting at when the first player cracked 100 Points, and tell all of you the top ten.  We will this going forward with every update as the first player breaches the elevated ten-point threshold afterward. Here…

RIP: Pele

Today, we lost the GOAT. The man known universally by only one name, Pele, passed away at the age of 82 from colon cancer.  Pele led his home nation of Brazil to the game’s highest pinnacle, the World Cup, to three victories (1958, 1962 & 1970), doing so with class, flair and unequalled skill, and would become a global ambassador.  He was known in every country, a hero to millions and an icon of sport.  Pele scored 95 Goals for his country, and 618 for his Brazilian club team, Santos, where he played from 1956 to 1974.  He would later lend his talent…
Mixed Martial Arts lost one of its favorite sons, as Stephan Bonnar, died of heart issues at the tender age of 45. From Hammond, Indiana, Bonnar became a permanent fixture on the MMA scene when he made the Ultimate Fighter 1 Finals, in a unanimous decision loss to Forrest Griffin.  Despite his loss, Bonnar was so impressive in defeat that Dana White signed him to a UFC contract. Bonnar went on to have a good career, but was never a champion in the UFC, though he would have many high-prominent fights, including losses to Rashad Evans, Jon Jones, Mark Coleman and…
