We almost forgot about this. The Colorado Avalanche retired the number 52 in honor of Adam Foote who played for them in all but two and a half seasons from 1991 to 2011. The native of Whitby, Ontario was known as a consummate stay-at-home Defencemen, who brought leadership and grit to every team he ever played on. Mavericks to retire Derek Harper's jersey

Although we don’t when it will happen, Dallas Maverick’s owner, Mark Cuban has announced that the Number 12 of Derek Harper will be raised to the rafters this season. In 1984, Dallas selected the Guard in the first round where he played his first ten and half seasons from 1983 to 1994. He was brought back for a second stint in the 1996-97 season. It has just been reported that former Velvet Underground front man and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Lou Reed has passed away today at the age of 71. It is not known as of this writing how he died however he had a liver transplant earlier in the year. The Velvet Underground is considered one of the most influential music acts of all time, combining the New York art scene with Rock and Roll. Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, Bill Sharman passed away today at the age of 87. Last week, he suffered a stroke, and died at his home in California. Sharman played the bulk of his career with the Boston Celtics, where the Shooting Guard would help the team win four NBA Championships. Sharman was an eight time All-Star and was named the First Team NBA All-Star team four consecutive seasons. The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced that on March 8, 2014, that the number 11 of former Center, Zydrunas Ilgauskas will be retired. “Z” played twelve seasons with Cleveland and is the franchise leader in blocks. Twice he was named to the All-Star team (2003 & 2005) and was a consistent leader in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds, leading the league in that category in 2005. The man they called “snowshoes” for his plodding skating style may have been harmlessly mocked, but across the National Hockey League, Allan Stanley was celebrated as a winner and an excellent defensive specialist. Stanley passed away at the age of 87 and on four occasions in the 1960’s was a big part of four Stanley Cups with the Toronto Maple Leafs. We were starting to think that we were the only ones who thought that Don Cherry should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Legendary Defenceman (and depending on who you ask, the greatest Hockey player of all time) Bobby Orr has stated that he believes that the star of Coach’s Corner on CBC should be inducted as revealed in his autobiography. About six months ago, we asked someone close to us if they would be interested in doing a Notinhalloffame.com section in regards to the World Golf Hall of Fame. His answer was that it would not be very interesting as the Hall inducts “everybody”. Apparently, they have agreed. The Florida based institution has announced that they are cancelling the 2014 Hall of Fame process and have announced that they will look at overhauling the process.
