Not in Hall of Fame News

The 2014 International Tennis Hall of Fame has announced their latest class, and it is headlined by American Lindsay Davenport, who was ranked number one in the female ranks multiple times, first hitting that mark in 1998.  She would win 38 career tournaments, three of which were Grand Slams.  These were the French (1996), Wimbledon (1999) and the U.S. Open (1997).  Davenport also added the Olympic Gold Medal in Atlanta in 1996 and the WTA Championship in 1999. As good as Davenport was, she was often overlooked, even in her home country, as (ok, we’ll say it), smaller and prettier…
The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that the 44th Member of their Hall of Fame will be their former Running Back, Priest Holmes.  Holmes was undrafted in 1997 coming out of the University of Texas, but was signed as a free agent by the Baltimore Ravens.  He won the starting role in 1998 and hit the 1,000 Yard Rushing mark, but lost it to Jamal Lewis the following year.  As the backup Running Back, Holmes won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV, though only had 12 Yards from scrimmage in the game.  Priest Holmes would sign…
We apologize, as this retirement slipped right by us.  Perhaps we were still in a hangover over Canada’s win in Men’s Hockey in the Olympics.  A few days ago, there was another retirement worth reporting on, this time in the world of Hockey. Milan Hejduk, who did not play this year officially, announced his retirement from professional Hockey.  He was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in 1994 and debuted in the NHL when the team relocated to Colorado in 1998.  The Czech born player would play fourteen seasons in the NHL, all for the Avalanche where he would have 805…
Pedro Martinez thinks he has “a shot” to make the Baseball Hall of Fame.  In our opinion, he should have a lot more than that. The former Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion with the Boston Red Sox talked with reporters yesterday about the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame (which he was selected for the 2014 Class) and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. “It’s a great honor to actually go into the Red Sox Hall of Fame,” Martinez said. “I don’t (have) enough words to thank the organization. I’m extremely proud to have been chosen…
We have a lot that we are working on here at Notinhalloffame.com, one of which is a look at each major franchise’s respective Hall of Fame and Retired Numbers.  That won’t be for a while but as you have seen, every time there is an addition to a team’s Hall or a new retired number, we will comment on it here. Today, the Atlanta Braves have announced the 26th, 27th and 28th members of their Hall of Fame.  The biggest name is Javy Lopez, who was their Catcher for parts of twelve seasons playing 1,156 Games for the Atlanta Braves. …
Carolina Panthers Offensive Tackle, Jordan Gross has announced that his eleven year NFL career has come to an end.  The 33 Year old made the announcement today at a press conference, and his departure will create a void in the Panthers Offensive Line. Gross was named to three Pro Bowls in his career, including last season.  In 2008 he was a First Team All Pro selection, which is our favourite metric to really judge the elite status of a Football player, regardless of their position.  Gross currently has the most starts all time with the Carolina Panthers with 167, and…
We have another major update to unveil here at Notinhalloffame.com as the Football List has been revised.  A month ago, the Class of 2014 was unveiled over Super Bowl Weekend, and like last year the Baseball and Rock and Roll list have been unveiled much quicker than last year.  Last year, Derrick Brooks took over the top spot in his first year of eligibility, and was selected.  This prompts the need for a new player at the top of the mountain and again we have another first year eligible player.  Linebacker, Junior Seau, who sadly took his own life a…
The drama with KISS and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame refuses to go away.  Yesterday, the band released a statement on their website in regards to the Hall of Fame Ceremony: “To All Our Fans in Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Out of respect, Ace and Peter’s recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans. Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including long tie present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made…
If KISS fans were hoping to see a reunion of the original four members on stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it looks like they will be disappointed.  In a previous article, we mentioned how Paul Stanley disclosed that his apathy towards the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not changed.  We focused on that portion of his words, but perhaps we should have taken more note of his comments about how the Hall has been inconsistent by not always inducting what he felt were key members of bands. He cited how when the Canadian Progressive…
It was sad news that we learned of the passing of former WWE superstar, Nelson Frazier who passed away at the age of 43 due to a massive heart attack.  Frazier had multiple personas in World Wrestling Entertainment, most recently as “Big Daddy V” in the ECW brand. Frazier was known for his large size (his billed weight was over 500 pounds) and as such could always be used as a large man who could constantly be reinvented to keep him relevant in the world of wrestling.  He would have many stints in the WWE and has a tenure in…
