Not in Hall of Fame News

As you may be aware, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced a “Contributor” category that is now separate for the standard process, which included builders in the past.  In the first year of this new category, the first two non-players who will be fast tracked to the Finalist category are former Raiders and Packers Executive, Ron Wolf and former Bills, Panthers and Colts, General Manager, Bill Polian.  Ron Wolf was a key executive with the Raiders organization and was part of the reason that the organization drafted so well in the 1970’s and built up a team that…
It was not that long ago that the Buffalo Sabres announced their intention to retire the number of former Goalie, Dominik Hasek this season.  The organization has now officially announced the date, as on January 13th, in their home game against the Detroit Red Wings, Hasek’s number 39 will be raised to the rafters at the First Niagara Center. Hasek, who recently entered the Hockey Hall of Fame on the first ballot was a six time Vezina Trophy winner, a six time First Team All Star and more impressively a two time Hart Trophy winner as a Buffalo Sabre.  In…

RIP: Ox Baker

It was reported yesterday that former Professional Wrestler, Douglas “Ox” Baker died at the age of 80 due to congestive heart failure.  Baker was not the best known or most talented professional wrestler that the industry had ever seen, but he certainly had one of the most unique and menacing looks in a business that has seen its fair share. Ox Baker, with his clean shaven head, black bushy eyebrows, and menacing fu manchu, stood out from any crowd, regardless, of whether they were familiar with the game of wrestling or not.  Baker, who stood six foot three and weighed…
It was not that long ago that we mentioned how ling time Deep Purple bass player, Roger Glover, mentioned that he was not certain that the band would accept a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.  That was before this year’s nominations came out and Deep Purple, who was a nominee the past two years, failed to make the group of Finalists this year.  Lead Singer, Ian Gillan was recently asked by Radio Futoro in Chile, what his thoughts were on the Rock Hall snub, and below is the meat of his interview regarding this topic.  “Whatever I say…
It did not have a whole lot of fanfare, what with the World Series coming soon and all, but former two-time All Star, Brian Roberts has announced that he will be retiring from Professional Baseball. Roberts entered the Major League ranks in 2001 with the Baltimore Orioles, a team he would play for in his next 13 seasons.  Showcasing significant speed, Roberts swiped 185 bags, including an American League leading 50 in 2007.  He would also lead the AL in Doubles twice, a feat achieved in 2004 and 2009.  Playing Second Base for the bulk of his career, Roberts would…
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has just announced their Nominees for their next year’s class, and much like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, who announced their 2015 nominees last week, it is a very diverse group of candidates.  Although we don’t have a Notinhalloffame list for the Songwriters Hall of Fame, it is an institution that we have respect for and will always take time to report on the actions of. This year’s Performing Nominees are as follows: Harry Wayne Casey, known as “K.C.” of K.C. and the Sunshine Band fame, a major staple of the Disco sound…
We announced some time ago that we would not be doing a list for the World Golf Hall of Fame as their induction process was too lax for our liking.  Since that time, the Golf Hall announced that they would be revising their process, and today they announced their first induction class under the new system. This year’s headliner is Mark O’Meara, a 16 time winner on the PGA Tour.  O’Meara won two Majors, the 1998 British Open and 1998 Masters, the year he was named the 1998 PGA Player of the Year.  In total, he won 34 tournaments as…
As we embark upon into the depths of the Autumn season, we here at Notinhalloffame.com have a lot to prepare for.  In a few months, the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce their latest classes and shortly after the Basketball Hall of Fame will follow suit.  Our lists are all up to date, but that never stops us from continued expansion on our multiple websites. We will be adding shortly additional players to the Hockey futures.  This will include those who will be eligible for the Hockey Hall of Fame soon, and…
A major apology is owed to all of you. As you have seen, we have been very busy with the creation of our new Fictitious Athlete and Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fames, and for that matter the continued expansion of our core site.  That being said, the new logo for Notinhalloffame.com was actually done months ago, not that long after we asked all of you who it should replace KISS on the banner. That informal questionnaire did not exactly result in any one artist who was the runaway winner.  In fact, it would be accurate to say that…
This is one of the days that we look forward to every year at Notinhalloffame.com.  Today, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, announced their fifteen nominees for this year’s Class.  As always, we expect that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will generate controversy, which is what they do best.  The fifteen nominees in order of our rank are as follows: #2 Kraftwerk The Germans are back as a nominee for the third time, and again we ask if they care, or of even the fans care.  We appreciate how the Hall looks at the influential nature of…
