Not in Hall of Fame News

We never thought we would live to see the day that Scott Hall entered the WWE Hall of Fame.  More accurately, we never thought that Scott Hall would live to see that day! It was announced tonight on Monday Night RAW that he will be (what we expect) will be the final entrant to the 2014 Class.  Hall had already achieved a level of success in the AWA, NWA and WCW when he entered the World Wrestling Federation in the summer of 1992, but it was there he took his game to the next level. Rechristened “Razor Ramon” (which was…
When we started this website, we sought out someone to work on a Notinhalloffame.com Golf section.  Upon finding someone, his response was quick: “There is no point.  The Golf Hall of Fame lets in everybody!” Apparently, the institution based in St. Augustine, Florida came to same conclusion. This year, there will be no inductees as the World Golf Hall of Fame has elected to revamp their induction procedures and resume induction in 2015.  Instead of hundreds of writers, a sixteen person Selection Committee will now decide the future classes, with potential entrants being grouped into four distinct categories: Mens Competitor…
Gang, we are going to try to make this the last article/editorial on KISS’s participation in the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.A few days ago, Joel Peresman, the CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gave some insight as to why Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer would not be inducted: Thayer and Singer “are fine musicians who basically have the same makeup and are the same characters that Ace and Peter started.  It’s not like they created these other characters with different makeup and playing different songs.  They took the persona of characters that were created…
We are only a few weeks away from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announcement to complete their Class of 2014, and it looks like there will be might be changes coming to the process in 2016. Currently, the Basketball Hall has five categories where one individual will bypass the voting process and receive automatic induction.  They are the Contributors, ABA, Early African American Pioneer, International and Veterans.  This was instituted in 2010, with the intention of finding those who may have “slipped through the cracks”.  This process helped induct Artis Gilmore, Mel Daniels and Roger Brown; who may not…
This was a long time coming.  When the WWE announced that they planned to have a “Celebrity Wing” for their Hall of Fame, one of the name’s that we felt had to be entered was Mr. T., a participant in the inaugural Wrestlemania Main Event.  It has been announced that Mr. T, will finally enter the WWE Hall of Fame, and be inducted the night before Wrestlemania XXX in New Orleans. Born Lawrence Tero, Mr. T became a mainstream celebrity as “Clubber Lang”, the badass opponent of Rocky Balboa, who won and lost the Heavyweight Boxing Championship from the “Italian…
We almost missed this one.  Gene Simmons of KISS has been very vocal about his distain for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; before and after he got in, but there was an excerpt from his recent interview with Radio.com that we thought was worth mentioning, where he slammed some of the Rap and Hip Hop entrants to the Hall.  “A long time ago it was diluted. It’s really back room politics, like Boss Tweed. A few people decide what’s in and what’s not. And the masses just scratch their heads. You’ve got Grandmaster Flash in the Rock and Roll…
In a recent article with the Associated Press, Ice Cube, who was in the influential Hip Hop Group, N.W.A., he was asked about his group’s failure to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first two year’s of eligibility. "It sucks. But it's understandable.  We really only had one album together. They had two albums as a group. I'm sure that groups that have been together longer can make a better argument.  This just lets you know how much we need a Hip-Hop Hall of Fame of our own." Realistically, this is not exactly a snub yet.  Unlike…
Tonight on the tapings of Friday Night Smackdown, it was announced that Carlos Colon will be entering the WWE Hall of Fame.  Colon debuted in professional wrestling in 1966, but citing a need for a solid promotion in his native Puerto Rico, he co-created, the World Wrestling Council, which would become a major promotion. Colon would become the promotion’s champion multiple times, and his decades long feud with Abdullah the Butcher is still legendary on the Caribbean Island.  In 1983, it appeared to the WWC faithful that he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Ric Flair when he defeated…
Barry Bonds has re-emerged in the world of Baseball, as he again donned a San Francisco Giants uniform as an Instructor in Spring Training.  Whether or not, this ushers in a full time return to the sport is up in the air, but considering how many tainted figures have returned to Baseball after the taint of PEDs (McGwire, Giambi, Pettitte), there is certainly enough room for Barry Bonds; especially one who seems “nicer”. As expected, Bonds was met with reporters and actually seemed to enjoy the interaction.  He showed vulnerability, by expressing his nerves at his new position; a component…
The Buffalo Sabres began their Hall of Fame in 1980 and have already inducted forty-one men in their Hall.  Honestly, this is a high amount for a franchise that has never won a Stanley Cup (although they have been to two), but the 42nd inductee is someone that hockey fans should have no problem with. That man is Czech born Goaltender, Dominik Hasek, who arrived in Buffalo via a trade from Chicago as the backup for Grant Fuhr in 1992.  Hasek would ascend to the starting position following an injury to Grant early in the 1993-94 season, and he immediately…
