42. Mark Haynes

The New York Giants used their First Round Pick in 1980 (8thOverall) on Mark Haynes, a star Cornerback from Colorado.  While Haynes never achieved the fame of some of the Defensive Ends and Linebackers who played ahead of him, he was a bona fide top player in his own right.

Haynes won a starting role at Left Cornerback as a rookie, and in the four years after, he was one of the best DBs in Giants history.  In the four seasons in question, Haynes posted Approximate Values of 15, 15, 12 & 17, with the last three years earning Pro Bowl years with '82 and '84 earning First Team All-Pro nods.  That last year was Haynes's best year with seven Interceptions, which was seventh in the league.

Haynes signed with the Denver Broncos, where he would help the Broncos reach three Super Bowls.  With the Giants, Haynes had 13 Interceptions and has one of the better Approximate Value per Games (.853) in franchise history.
