Godsmack

Another excellent Heavy Metal band, Godsmack may draw more from Grunge than from the Metal superstars of the decade prior. Appealing to straight up Metal fans and Alternative connoisseurs, the Boston based group has carved out a very successful career for themselves and if the Hall ever truly decided to recognize the Metal genre, they would one day have a decent shot for induction.

457. Feist

We suspect that there is a lot more to the story of Leslie Feist to be written, and should that follow the current path, she might make the Hall of Fame. Of course, our guess is the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the not the more popular one. Kidding aside, along with Broken Social Scene, Feist is a very respected Adult Alternative musician and a lot better than the 1234 song that Apple made famous.

Dido

Getting her break from Eminem who sampled one of her songs, Dido’s soft and heartfelt songs were propelled to the mainstream. This did give Dido a large audience, but a reflection of her overall work may see her best as a featured performer in other artist’s works as opposed to her own. This is not a knock on her own music, but this seems to be where she has been at her best. If that perception is accurate, what legitimate Hall of Fame chance is there?

218. Death Cab for Cutie

One of the biggest darlings of the world of Indie Rock in the last twenty years, Death Cab for Cutie slowly built up a massive audience with a soft and bittersweet style that played with the emotional heart strings of their listeners. Coincidently, the love that they received from the Indie fans was completely rejected by another segment of the American population who seemed to reject the force-feeding of the band down their throats by the music press. Regardless of how you may feel about the band, this is certainly one of the best Indie success stories in decades; we just don’t know whether that accolade means anything in terms of the Hall of Fame
