Is Hulk Hogan out of the WWE HOF?

Wrestling fans all known that Hulk Hogan hasn’t been having a good year. In light of his recent scandal in which he uttered racial slurs towards African-Americans, he was released from his contract and was removed from many aspects of the WWE’s media platform and his name is not on the company’s Hall of Fame website.
It needs to be noted that the WWE has never publically stated that they have removed Hogan from the Hall (nor have they with Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka who will go to trial for the murder of his mistress from over thirty years ago), however from comments he has just made on Ric Flair’s podcast, he appears to think that he has been removed:
“That Hall of Fame ring is my life and it’s just so sad that I’ve been taken out of the Hall of Fame and I don’t have a presence anymore in the wrestling business. But I’m going to cherish that Hall of Fame ring.”
While it is still unclear as to whether Hogan is or is not in the WWE Hall of Fame, his passion towards it shows how much many of the professional wrestlers hold it dear.

Dan Haren to retire. Is he a HOFer?

Following the end of the Chicago Cubs playoff season, Pitcher, Dan Haren will complete his career as a Major League Baseball player.
Haren entered MLB in 2003 with the St. Louis Cardinals and following a move to the Oakland Athletics, he would make his first All Star roster in 2007. Haren had a good stint in Oakland, but it was with his next club, the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he would have his best run.
The starting pitcher would play for Arizona for three seasons and would make his second and third (also last) All Star Game. He would also lead the National League in SO/W twice as well as WHIP once. Haren would later join the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim where he would again lead the league (this time American) in SO/W. Stints with the Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins and the Cubs would follow.
Haren will retire with a 153 and 131 record with 2,013 Strikeouts and a bWAR of 32.9. This is a solid career, but not one that is likely to generate any serious Baseball Hall of Fame consideration.
Haren will be eligible for the Hall in five years, but even with a potential World Series Ring, he won’t get in. Still, it is a good career, and we here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to thank Dan Haren for the memories and wish him the best in his post MLB career.

The Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's First Class is announced!

This is a big day for us.
After three rounds, the Preliminary, the Semi-Finals and the Finals, the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the first class after one full year of online voting from all of you.
We are pleased to announce that the Blues Brothers, Spinal Tap and the Monkees have been selected by all of you as the first full class of the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Portrayed by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, the Blues Brothers received the most votes. “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues fronted an all-star band that was originally seen on Saturday Night Live. In their 1980 feature film, the siblings were on “a mission from God” and inadvertently introduced classic blues music to a new generation.
Finishing second in the vote was Spinal Tap, who were also portrayed by Saturday Night Live alumnus. Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) created what is considered to be the best “mockumentary” of all time and is considered a classic.
The final inductees of the first class are the Monkees, who were assembled to portray a fictional band but would later become one. The Monkees (Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz) were one of the most successful pop groups of the 1960’s.
These three inductees beat out the following finalists (in order of their vote totals) in the Final Round:
- Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem (The Muppets)
- Tenacious D (Tenacious D)
- The Wonders (That Thing You Do!)
- Otis Day & The Knights (Animal House)
- Wyld Stallyns (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure)
- Eddie and the Cruisers (Eddie and the Cruisers)
- The Commitments (The Commitments)
- Ricky Ricardo (I Love Lucy)
- Alvin and the Chipmunks
- The Archies (The Archie Show)
- The School of Rock (School of Rock)
- Stillwater (Almost Famous)

At 2:00 AM Eastern the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced their Class of 2016 Nominees and it features some new possibilities, old returnees and a few headscratchers.
Let’s take a look at this group in order of their rank on Norinhalloffame.com.
Deep Purple: (#1)The British rockers have been nominated twice before, though their first nomination came seventeen years after being declared eligible. They have been number one on our list for the past two years and have never been out of the top four since our website began.
The Smiths: (#5) This is their second straight nomination. The group has always been ranked in our top ten.
N.W.A.: (#11) This is their fourth consecutive nomination and coming off of their successful biopic, this could be their year.
Chicago: (#12) Surprisingly, this is the first nomination for Chicago who have waited over twenty years for this. Seriously, how could this one wait so long just to get to this stage?
Yes: (#16) The progressive rock band gets a second shot at the Hall and clearly they have landed on Cleveland’s radar.
The Steve Miller Band (#21) This also marks the first time that the Steve Miller Band has been nominated and like Chicago it took over twenty years to get here. Chances are that all of you reading this had a cd of their greatest hits.
Nine Inch Nails (#33) This is Trent Reznor’s second nomination and the man who will likely (maybe this year) become the lone Industrial representative of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Janet Jackson: (#34) This is the first nomination for Janet Jackson and we know our friends at the #Inductjanet campaign will be thrilled! This is a strong female contender for an institution that claims to support gender equity.
The Cars: (#36) Steadily climbing our chart since its inception, this marks the first nomination for the Ric Ocasek led Pop/New Wave group.
Cheap Trick: (#44) This is another first time nominee as the Chicago based power-pop rock group has been increasing in legacy in recent years.
The Spinners (#54) The Spinners are nominated for a third time and considering that the band they inspired (Hall & Oates) got in, perhaps this year the Spinners will add another Philly Soul representative to the Hall.
Chic: (#100) This is the eleventh (that is not a misprint) nomination for the R&B/Disco outfit from the 70’s and this is getting a little sad. Why not just induct Nile Rodgers through the same back door that they used to crowbar Ringo Starr in last year?
Chaka Khan (#131) Huh? With all due respect to Chaka Khan, we are far more interested in seeing her inducted with Rufus, which is actually what the ranking reflects. This is Chaka Khan’s first nomination.
Los Lobos (#135) I hope to God that those of you reading this only think that this group was known for covering La Bamba! This is also there first nomination.
The J.B.’s (Unranked) Another strange nomination considering that the Rock Hall not long ago inducted multiple backing bands, including that of James Brown’s first band, The Famous Flames. This was the band that supported Brown from the 70’s to the 90’s.
We know we are going to hear a lot about this one and expect that there will be a lot of people upset that their favourite musician(s) were not chosen. And while there is certainly a lot to criticize it is nice to see so many first time nominees.
