While other Rock stars tried to play it safe in the late 50’s and early 60’s, Freddy Cannon did what he could to stay true to the Rock and Roll spirit. His music was fun, loud and full of energy and though he had the good looks of any other teen idol of his era, he really wasn’t in the same vein. Cannon may not have been the most talented man in Rock and Roll, but he may have loved it the most and that could one day count for something within the Hall.

With a long string of mid level success in England, and the honor of being the opening band at Live Aid, Status Quo was a solid band that delivered hits over varying genres in their career. What this basically equates to is a good band that may fit into the “Journeyman” Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but despite a long and successful career, they were more followers than innovators.

With a series of hits in the 1970’s, Boz Scaggs was a Blue Eyed Soul star who incorporated subtle elements of Funk and Disco to the songs that made him famous. It was those trace elements that allowed him to reach a broader range of fans and discover his earlier catalogue which featured a wide range of his abilities. It always seemed that Scaggs was on either end of critics and fans alike as he seemed to be loved or hated. It could be this disparity of opinion that could be keeping Scaggs out.

From London by way of Nigeria came an exotic voice with an even more exotic look. Sade Adu could be considered to be the best in the Adult Jazz subgenre. Crossing into R&B and Mainstream Pop success, Sade had a lot of success in the States which could help her achieve a nomination at least, but her laid back style may not be what the voters are looking for.
