Boards of Canada

Despite their name, the duo that comprised the Electronic duo known as Board of Canada is not Canadian at all.  Rather, they are Scottish, but as much as their name alludes to a tranquil place, their Electronic music is at its based when it incorporates rich and soothing Ambient textures.  BOC could also vary into Techno and Trip Hop, but all the while they still had this aura like they were performing music meant for nature.  A rare skill, but likely not Hall of Fame material.

The Ben Folds Five

The Ben Folds Five called themselves “Punk Rock for Sissies”.  As funny as that self deprecating comment was, the Ben Folds Five were a solid entry to the Alternative Pop genre.  They performed without a lead guitar and showcased Jazz influenced music.  They were an exceptional live band, and often the true power of their music failed to capture itself in the recording studio.  Despite their skill, they likely don’t have the hits to make the Hall and with them long since disbanded it appears like they won’t have a realistic shot.

Even by his own admission, Captain Lou Albano was not an accomplished wrestler.  Albano would however become one of the most successful managers that the WWE ever had, and for well over a decade he led heel armies, primarily focusing on tag teams.  Albano would manage thirteen teams to sixteen championships, and finished off his career in Stamford as an unlikely face manager and peripheral point to the Rock and Wrestling Wars of the mid 80’s.  Few managers were ever on the same level as Captain Lou.

Baron Mikel Scicluna was not inducted for his plethora of championships or stellar won loss record.  He was however a very dependable worker who served the Stamford based promotion well and for a long period of time.  Although, he may have had a journeyman’s record, he never ventured out of the North East that often.  This induction seems more like a “Thank you” as opposed to a “Well Earned”, and is often debated by wrestling fans.
