Moving effortlessly from Alternative Country to Alternative Pop, Cracker had a decent run in the early 90’s. However like many bands that flirted with the Alternative scene (regardless of what it was), Cracker was not able to keep their momentum in the last half of the decade and essentially faded away. With that said, they have announced a return and you never know what it is possible for the California rockers.

Named Buckethead, because well…..he wears a bucket on his head, Brian Patrick Carroll may very well be one of the most talented guitarists ever. He is also among the strangest. Unlike other shredders, Buckethead’s music ranges from the Progressive to Jazz to Avant-Garde and all points in between. There is no doubting his talent, although many doubt his sanity.

The premature death of front man, Shannon Hoon brought to an end what may have been a Hall of Fame career. Best known for their folksy hit, No Rain, Blind Melon scored big with their debut album in a way that was not typical of other Alternative bands of their time. The group drew more from Classic Rock than Grunge, yet crossed over to both sets. Although their second album did not sell as well, it is unknown what Blind Melon could have accomplished had Hoon survived. It is conceivable they could have had a twenty year acclaimed career, or just as possible that they would have disbanded and never been heard from again. Sadly, we will never know.

They were called the next ABBA, and for a brief time that looked like it would be the case. With two men, two women from Sweden, and a bubblegum Dance sound, Ace of Base captured the attention of fans in numerous countries. As popular as their pop melodies were, their peak did not last more than two albums (not very ABBA like) and as such will struggle to receive serious Hall consideration, which ABBA was able to achieve.
