Well gang, with all the talk that we constantly do around here regarding who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we almost forgot that tonight is the official induction of the 2011 Class.
Needless to say, regular visitors to our site will know how happy we are with Alice Cooper's induction and pleasantly surprised by Tom Waits, Leon Russell and Neil Diamond getting in. Dr. John and Darlene Love are also set to be inducted tonight, though the latter two did not have high spots on our rankings.
Regardless, this is the night that we here at notinhalloffame.com look forward to every year, and here is to the future Class of 2012. May we be happy with the inductees, but who are we kidding right?
Rick Martin, our #18 Selection on our Hockey List passed away as the result of a car accident today. Martin was a member of the famed "French Connection" and is one of the all time greats for the Buffalo Sabres Organization.
Martin was a seven time All Star and set the rookie record (which has since been broken) for Goals in a season. He would twice score 50 goals and along with his linemates of Gilbert Perrault and Rene Robert, would lead the Sabres to a Stanley Cup Final in 1975. Martin's career prematurely ended due to a severe injury and he was not able to pad his career stats in a way that could have garnered him a Hall of Fame berth.
We here at notinhalloffame.com mourn his loss but celebrate his career.
They called her the original diva, and in many ways that is the best way to refer to the next inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame. Although her legal name is Tammy Sytch, she is best known to wrestling fans as "Sunny".
As Sunny, Tammy Sytch was not known for what she did in the ring....and nor should she as she never really did wrestle. But she was eye candy who appealed to virtually all men and knew how to talk on the microphone. We had her at #103, which we felt was an accurate number. Sytch was ranked lower than Miss Elizabeth, who we feel was the first true non wrestling female superstar, but as Sunny, Sytch did pave the way for many of the Divas who followed. Congratulations are in order!
