Despite playing his entire career in an Original Six city, Henrik Zetterberg had a brilliant under-the-radar career.  The Swedish Centre was the runner-up for the Calder Trophy in 2003, and two seasons later, he would develop into one of the most well-rounded players in the National Hockey League.

From the upcoming hockey nation of Germany, Christian Ehrhoff had a good career in the National Hockey League, where he broke in with the San Jose Sharks.  After a 42 Point season with San Jose in 2008/09, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks, where, over two seasons, he posted his best NHL numbers, finishing seventh and tenth in Defensive Point Shares and placing ninth and eighth in Norris Trophy voting.  He would also have a 50 Point campaign in his last season with Vancouver (2010-11).  Ehrhoff finished his career with Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Brian Gionta was a good two-way player over his sixteen seasons in the National Hockey League, and everywhere he went, he was lauded for his leadership.  This includes his pre-NHL days where he was the captain of his Boston College team that would win the NCAA Championship.
