Guerrero has been with the company since 1997 where he slowly rose through the ranks and in the 2000s formed a team with Rey Bucanero that would become the most successful tag team in Mexico in the 2000s. While he was in that tandem, he was also becoming a bona fide singles title winning the CMLL Light Heavyweight Title and by decade's end was one of the promotion's top star. His profile in CMLL rose every year since then, and he was in one of the most important Lucha Libre main events in recent years when he lost a mask vs. mask match to Atlantis.
Outside of Mexico, he has competed for New Japan, TNA, and ROH and for a Mexican wrestler who never fought in WWE or WCW he is pretty well known, though we suspect there are a lot of people wondering if he is related to Eddie.
He isn’t by the way.
