In the Living Color parody of Ashford and Simpson, Cephus and Reesie were at their annoying best and took the genre of Soul Music to a new low. Personally, it was a favorite of ours, though it was low on the totem pole of Living Color sketches.
A Britney Spears knock off with a four episode arc in the HBO show, Six Feet Under, Celeste’s most memorable moments did not come from her singing, but from her seduction of her gay bodyguard, who she fired for sleeping with her. We wonder if that happened with the real Britney Spears?
The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Six Feet Under (2004)
Actor: Michelle Trachtenberg
Songs you might remember: U Could Be (So Good For Me)
Why you should vote for her: This is the only chance (should this be worth it) to vote for anything from a really solid show.
Why you should not vote for her: The memorable parts from had little to do with her singing.
Chris Rock may never be able to carry a film, but many remember his first foray as the lead in CB4, where he led a rap group with a made up Gangsta past. The film may not have been a huge hit, but it is still remembered in the Hip Hop community and as Rock’s profile rises, this film is getting a better look. It would not surprise us to see this group receive a lot of support for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: CB4 (1994)
Actors: Chris Rock (M.C. Gusto) Allen Payne (Dead Mike) Deezer D (Stab Master Arson)
Songs you might remember: Sweat of my Balls Straight Outta Locash
Why you should vote for them: The Chris Rock factor should play strong here.
Why you should not vote for them: This is far from Rock’s best work.
Another animated attempt to capitalize on the Bubblegum genre, the Cattanooga Cats were…well a little different than the others. Perhaps it was the subtle psychedelic feel the music had (even though it was Country based), or maybe that is what we were on when we watched it. Actually, that was probably it.
The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Cattanooga Cats (1969-71)
Actors: Bill Callaway (Country, Lead Singer and Guitarist) Julie Bennett (Kitty Jo, Singer and Dancer) Jim Begg (Scoots, Bass) Casey Kasem (Groove, Drums)
Songs you might remember: Surprisingly…none
Why you should vote for them: This was considered a cult hit. If so, there should be some fans of them out there.
Why you should not vote for them: For a musical act, there is no signature song.
