Rich Hall may not have achieved that much fame for his work on Saturday Night Live and Fridays, but he has gained a bit of success for his Country Music alter ego, Otis Lee Crenshaw. Crenshaw is Tennessee born, married seven times and has been incarcerated a dozen times. His signature song is the prison rape song, “He Almost Looks Like You” which might be enough for anyone to consider voting for him. Otis Lee Crenshaw actually has a CD out and did a tour with his backing band, The Black Liars. The Bullet Points: Album Appeared: London Not Tennessee Actor: Rich Hall Songs you might remember: He Almost Looks Like You Why you should vote for him: How many other times do you have to induct someone who sang about prison rape? Why you should not vote for him: Many people are unaware of the character; much like they are unaware of Hall himself. {youtube}

Just how popular was National Lampoon’s Animal House? It created a demand for the fictitious band that performed “Shout” at the Delta’s toga party. That band was called Otis Day and the Knights and the man who played Otis, (DeWayne Jessie) who was actually lip syncing someone else, formed a touring band and adopted the Otis Day moniker. As much as we loved them at the frat house, we loved them more when they played the Dexters Lake Club, which was only frequented by black patrons; until the Deltas got there. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Animal House (1978) Actors: DeWayne Jessie Robert Cray Robert Bailey Sonny King Tommy Smith Juan Steen Songs you might remember: Shout Shama Lama Ding Dong Why you should vote for them: They parlayed their role into an actual career. Why you should not vote for them: Basically, they pretended they were someone else. {youtube}

Oscar Drill and the Bits was a Punk band from the pseudo sequel of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which realistically is the only thing worth talking about here. Beyond that fact, we aren’t sure that there is really much of a shot for this entry.

Down and Out in Beverly Hills got good reviews and made money at the box office, but for our purposes this is the movie that reintroduced the world to Little Richard, the man who many (well at least Little Richard thinks so) is the true King of Rock and Roll. Richard had been in movies before, but never was he cast as perfectly as he was here, where he got to play a former 50’s Rock Star who was now a successful music producer. Those who remember this movie might cast a vote for Orvis Goodnight. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Down and out in Beverly Hills (1986) Actor: Little Richard Songs you might remember: Great Gosh A’ Mighty Why you should vote for him: Little Richard was great here. Why you should not vote for him: For a movie that did well, it is sure forgotten. {youtube}
