Butterfly Kisses
Highest Billboard Position:
#10 in 1997

Okay, so if you have been reading all of these, you can tell that we are not fans of songs that are disgustingly sweet and even less fans of songs that are we are forced to listen to at weddings; especially when we were forced to go those weddings in the first place.  The tradition of the father daughter dance is mostly accompanied by Bob Carlisle’s song, Butterfly Kisses, which refer to feel of eyelashes on a cheek.  The song has religious tones and with each passage the daughter comes across like a perfect angel as she goes from child to her wedding day.  We especially like how the song completely forgets the rebellious teen years that likely featured an abortion and numerous drunken binges; something that all these fathers are forgetting while dancing with their “perfect” daughter on their special day.  Sadly, this song has become a wedding staple and we will be forced to endure more of these tender moments in the coming years.
