84. Clay Aiken
Invisible
Highest Billboard Position:
#37 in 2004

We admit we don’t like American Idol and the way they run their program.  Sure, we admit that some very talented people came out of it, but for all the hours of fabricated entertainment that emerged from it, it just wasn’t worth it.  Oh, and we were stuck with Clay Aiken and his “Claymates” for awhile too.

Before Aiken emerged from his transparent closet, Aiken debuted his first album; though we wonder if his fans really listened to the lyrics of the first single.  In it, Aiken is singing about being “invisible” in the hope that he could stalk some girl.  Of course, imagining Aiken stalking any female seems laughable but to his thousands of fans (dozens now) at the time they were just happy to hear his golden voice.  Thankfully, his career is somewhat “invisible” now.
