43. Leonard Nimoy
The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
Highest Billboard Position:
Uncharted in 1967

Why must we keep talking about actors who try and sing?  Oh that’s right, because so many of think that because they have acting ability that it extends to other aspects of the arts.  Clearly, this list shows that it doesn’t, though at least in the case of Leonard Nimoy not a lot of people heard his abortion of an album.

In 1967, Nimoy became famous (and still his) for his portrayal of Spock on the Star Trek TV Series.  He began to make albums, but initially in the character of his television alter ego.  His second album was an amalgamation of his Spock character and his own persona.  The music he made after this album was actually much worse, as he went to contemporary Folk and Rock covers of which he could do neither well.  However, there is just nothing more absurd than a Science Fiction TV Star singing about another fictitious character, especially when the former can’t sing.  Nimoy’s rendition of the “greatest little hobbit of all” almost didn’t make this list as it falls into “it’s so bad its good category”.  At least, Shatner eclipsed him in the crap category.
