gold star for USAHOF

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we maintain and update our existing Top 50 lists annually.  We are pleased to present our post-2025 revision of our top 50 Kansas City Chiefs.

As for all of our top 50 players in football, we look at the following:

1.  Duration and Impact.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League.

3.  Advanced Statistics.

4.  Playoff performance.

5. Their respective legacy on the team.

6. How successful the team was when he was there.

7. Respecting the era in which they played.

Criteria 1-4 will make up the lion’s share of the algorithm.  Please note that we have implemented this for the first time.  This has changed the rankings all throughout the board.

Last year, the Chiefs had their most disappointing season in the last decade, finishing only 6-11. Still, three players moved up, and one new entry joined the list.

As always, we present our top five, with significant changes, mostly based on the new algorithm.

1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Bobby Bell
3. Tony Gonzalez
4. Travis Kelce
5. Len Dawson

You can find the complete list here:

After further reflection, Patrick Mahomes takes the number one spot.  How can any quarterback who has won three Super Bowls not be?

Tight End Travis Kelce advanced to #4 from #7.

Astoundingly, Chris Jones remained at #12, but is poised to break the top ten.

Center Creed Humphrey makes his debut at #47.

We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.

Kansas City used the 63rd overall pick in 2021 to bring Creed Humphrey out of Oklahoma; they weren't just filling an open spot at center—they were securing the indispensable anchor for a complete offensive line overhaul following Super Bowl LV. The left-handed technician stepped into Arrowhead Stadium and immediately put together one of the most flawless rookie campaigns by an interior lineman in modern NFL history, starting all 17 games, surrendering a single sack, and finishing as Pro Football Focus's highest-graded center in the league. His rare combination of core balance, wrestling leverage, and diagnostic pre-snap instincts provided Patrick Mahomes with immediate, unwavering stability up middle.

Humphrey quickly elevated his play from high-upside rookie to elite league benchmark as Kansas City mounted back-to-back championship runs. Anchoring the interior alongside Joe Thuney and Trey Smith, he spearheaded the premier interior unit in pro football. He earned his first AP Second-Team All-Pro honor and Pro Bowl selection in 2022, clearing massive rushing lanes and yielding pristine pass protection throughout Kansas City’s victories in Super Bowl LVII against Philadelphia and Super Bowl LVIII against San Francisco.

In August 2024, the Chiefs rewarded their elite center with a monumental four-year contract extension, making him the highest-paid center in NFL history. Humphrey responded with a masterclass of a season, earning consensus AP First-Team All-Pro honors and his third straight Pro Bowl nod. His rare explosive power in the phone booth and fluid mobility on pulls made him the sport’s premier run-blocking center.

Beyond his staggering physical tools, Humphrey’s greatest asset remains his absolute availability and cerebral pre-snap leadership. Through his first five NFL seasons, he has never missed a single start, assembling an uninterrupted streak of 84 regular-season games and 13 postseason starts. His front calls and line adjustments allow the offense to operate with complete control, neutralizing interior pass rushers before the ball is even snapped.

As the franchise prepares to kick off the upcoming campaign, Humphrey stands indisputably at the pinnacle of his position. Armed with two Super Bowl rings, a record-setting contract, and a flawless starting record, the Oklahoma product has already cemented his place among the finest interior offensive linemen to ever suit up for Kansas City, with his prime years still unfolding.
