Top 50 Florida Panthers

South Beach may have taken over the Basketball world for a spell, but there was a brief time in 1996 when an upstart expansion team made the Stanley Cup Finals and almost shocked the world of hockey by winning the entire thing.

The Florida Panthers did not win the Cup, but hockey historians still remember their achievements in such a short time, and this should be celebrated.

After that brief run near the top, the Panthers faltered. By the late 2010s, they were building a powerful team, and in 2024, they returned to the Stanley Cup Finals. This time, the result was different, as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers.  The season after was a repeat, with Florida again besting the Oilers, and winning their second straight Cup.

This list is up to the end of the 2024-25 Season.
Mike Matheson was a First Round Pick (23rd Overall) from Boston College, and after appearing in three Games in 2015-16, the Defenseman was in a permanent pairing as a Florida Panther. Matheson emerged as a prototypical defender, focusing on his side of the ice.  While he would be mistake prone on occasion,…
Jason Garrison was a Florida Panther for the first four seasons of his NHL career, the last of which is considered to be the most complete of his career.  Already possessing solid defensive skill, Garrison would add a bit of offensive flair with a 33 Point season in the 2011-12…
Tomas Fleischmann had his best season in hockey, setting career highs in Goals (27), Assists (34), and Points (61) in his first of three seasons with the Florida Panthers.  Fleischmann would not be able to duplicate that scoring success again and would be shipped off two years later.
Due to serious issues that led to an order of protection against his fiancée, from his teammate’s (Erik Karlsson) wife, the Ottawa Senators needed to trade Mike Hoffman, and his landing place was San Jose – for two hours.  Hoffman was then traded to Florida. Hoffman responded well to the change…
Spending the last four seasons of his NHL career with the Florida Panthers, Defenseman, Terry Carkner brought a lot of toughness to the new team.  Carkner did not have the same scoring touch that he had previously, but he played a role in the Panthers' surprising run to the Stanley…
Bryan Allen had the best years of his career as a Florida Panther.  Allen, who was always very good defensively, put together a 25 Point season in the 2006-07 campaign.  He was a Panther for three and a half years..
Kristian Huselius would actually have had much better seasons in his NHL career with the Calgary Flames, but he did string together two straight 20 Goal Seasons as a Panther.  He would finish third in Calder Trophy voting in 2001-02.  Huselius had 127 Points for Florida.
Stu Barnes was a Florida Panther for three seasons and change, most notably for his 16-point playoff run in 1996.  Barnes was known as one of the leaders of the locker room, and it is not inconceivable to state that Florida would not have done as well as that season…
Jussi Jokinen played three seasons with the Florida Panthers, and in his second year in South Beach (2015-16), the Finnish forward scored 60 Points, his second-best total since he entered the National Hockey League in 2005.  Jokinen's play would drop off, and he was released after the following year, but…
Mark Fitzpatrick had gone through a lot before he became a Florida Panther.  When he was playing with the Islanders, he contracted Eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome, a neurological disease that held him out of most of the 1990-91 Season and a large part of the 1991-92 campaign.  He came back and was rightfully the…
