gold star for USAHOF

47. Oscar Klefbom

47. Oscar Klefbom

As of this writing, Swedish born Defenseman Oscar Klefbom is the Oilers’ best shutdown Defenseman, who rarely gets costly penalties (or any penalties at all) to affect his team in a negative way.

Klefbom was drafted 19th overall in 2010, and he would spend time in the Swedish league for a couple of years, he would debut for Edmonton in the 2013-14 campaign.  A fulltime fixture by the following year, Klefbom used his size and positioning to become a very good player at his position and a fixture on the power play.  In his first six years, Klefbom has scored 156 Points, and he will likely add to that and rack up the Defensive Point Shares as he continues with the team, though he needs to recover from shoulder issues that kept him out of the 2020-21 Season.
