gold star for USAHOF

26. Larry Aurie

26. Larry Aurie

Detroit Red Wings owner, James Norris, called Larry Aurie the franchise's heart and soul, and praise doesn't get much better than that.

The Right Wing played his entire NHL career with Detroit, beginning in 1927 when the team is still called the Cougars.  Aurie could score, but he was a selfless player who did what was necessary to help the team.  In the second half of his career, he was a more explosive offensive player, leading the NHL in Goals (23) in 1936-37 and was a First Team All-Star.  That happened a year after he helped take the Red Wings to win a Stanley Cup.

Aurie scored 275 Points in 489 Games in a career spent exclusively in Detroit.
