gold star for USAHOF

50. Tom Reid

50. Tom Reid

Tom Reid played 701 Games in the NHL, 610 of which were played in Minnesota.  Reid was a by the books stay-at-home Defenceman who only scored 17 Goals in his career (although one was a penalty shot against Ken Dryden) but as we say often here at Notinhalloffame.com in our related hockey sections that players like Reid are essential to the game.

While his career was far from flashy he is likely best known for how it ended.  Reid suffered a severe skin rash from his own hockey equipment that was called amongst locker rooms as the “gunk”.  The pain was so bad that it caused a premature retirement of the game.
