Craig Ludwig was brought into the then-named Minnesota North Stars to provide a veteran presence on the blue line, which is exactly what he offered them for over 500 Games.
Ludwig was never considered a scorer as he only put 38 into the net over his 1,256-Game career, but he was there to stop the puck by any means necessary. Ludwig was known for his shot-blocking skills, which he employed by beating his stick or his body, and he brought leadership to the Stars. He was an Assistant Captain for the team for a significant stretch of his career, and in his final game in the NHL, he helped Dallas win their lone Stanley Cup in 1999.
