people thatwant roaf in the hall are not familiar with the movie the blindside. they made a point of saying how important a left tackle is after theisman got his leg snapped in two. left tackle is the second highest paid position after quarterback. lard ass roaf doesnt cut it. if he were in the secret service the president would be dead.

Hey jimmy26, what's your opinion on Will Shields? Do you think he belongs in canton, or do you put him in your Roaf-Dierdorf category of above average players disguised as hall of famers?

Personally I think the Snake and Kenny Anderson are the 2 best quarterbacks not in the pro football hall of fame, followed shortly by Plunkett, Esiason, Simms, Kosar, Tommy Thompson (how come no one ever mentions this guy for the hall of fame? he was awesome), Brodie, Gabriel, Hart, Conerly, Hadl, and there are probably one or two others that I'm missing. The one guy that a lot of people say belongs in the Hall but I don't believe does is Randall Cunningham. He just wasn't an accurate enough passer. Personally I believe the offensive lineman if the most important position in football; and although there are already a lot of o-liners in the hall of fame, there should be more: Jerry Kramer, Mick Tingelhoff, Dermontti Dawson, Will Shields, Willie Roaf (sorry jimmy), Jim Tyrer, Bob Kuechenberg, Joe Jacoby, Jay Hilgenberg, Jimbo Covert, Richmond Webb, Dick Schafrath, Randy Cross, and others all have a case for the hall and the first 7 guys i mentioned should be in for sure. Also, in the near future Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, Walter Jones, and Orlando Pace will be elligible and should all be inducted into the hall of fame.

Kosar DID play in the Super Bowl. He took a couple of snaps at the end of one of the Cowboys' victories. No, I don't really believe that. People who would think that counts are the same who think the Red Sox awarding the traded Nomar a world series ring is the same thing as Nomar having been part of the 2004 World Series championship team.

When me and my friend Larry were putting together our team of the best players not inducted but having been eligible and looked over for five years we had a long discussion on Kosar. Yes his cummulative stats do not stick out and yes he never played in a super bowl. Tow big minuses for sure but everywhere else he excelled. He was a great leader with a very high winning percentage as a starting quarterback and took a team with not a lot of superstars around him to the cusp of the super bowl.more than once. If it wasn't for John Elway (who I believe is the 3rd best QB ever) and some huge mistakes by teammates he would have got there. His passer rating is very high. He retired with the lowest inerception ratio in history. And he chose to play in Cleveland which meant he would not get the hype of other QB's and his passing stats would be effected by the cold weather. He definitely should be at least considered. We ended up rating him just behind Stabler and Theisman of those elegible (but he did make the team as we had 3 QB's) and ahead of the likes of Anderson, Esiason, Simms and Plunkett (Plunkett would have been ahead of him but we decided to go with only one player from each team per position and the Raiders were not surprisingly the most represented on the 53 man roster). I don't think he is a surefire inductee but at least put him in the discussion.

Heck yeah. Obviously move up Taylor and Gastineau first and foremost. And please include these players. The aforementioned Dwight Clark, Russ Washington and herb Scott. But also the likes of Kosar, Banks, Williams, Covert and Anderson I am with Ziggy on. But also several tackles like Leon Gray, Harris Barton, Keith Fahnhorst, Keith Van Horne, Tony Boselli, Paul Gruber, Richmond WEbb, etc. who have not been mentioned. Bert Jones, Lydell Mitchell, Joe Washington, David Hill, Willie Buchanan, Joe Lavender, Bobby Butler, Ray Crockett, Willie harper, Keena Turner, Ezra Johnson, Cedric hardeman, and Conrad Dobler are a few of my favs I would nominate for consideration but I understand I am a bit biased here. But one I feel I am not and continuously gets over looked is Al 'Bubba' Baker who should be way up on the list. AS far as Nobis I totally agree with Ziggy. Should be way higher. Maybe not ahead of Gradishar but at least in top 30. Oh and one last point. Could you please drop down your # 5 choice for this year down to oh I don't know like 77 or something. That would be a little more appropriate I think.

I heard somewhere that your going to expand the list to 250. And if you do that, I have some names for you that you might not consider otherwise: andy russell, carl banks, jimbo covert, rich (tombstone) jackson, tom jackson, matt snell, bernie kosar, doug williams, gary anderson (2nd all-time points leader, seriously if the hall inducted kickers this guy would be in for sure), willie gallimore, marshall goldberg, tommy thompson, and pat tillman (i dont think tillman should be inducted, but maybe you could put him at 250 as an "honourable mention" type player, sort of like what you did with mike eruzione in the hockey list.and yes i know you probably dont want to change the order that much, and especially dont want to move a guy whos not even on the list into the top 10, but could you please put tommy nobis in the top 100, and hopefully the top 25. i know his statistics arent overwhelming, but neither are a lot of great players in the history of the game, even a guy like joemo never threw for over 4000 yards in a single season. basically this guy was mr. falcon, a dick butkus type, except instead of playing in chicago, he played in atlanta, which is why he hasnt been inducted. honestly, i think nobis is currently the best linebacker not in the hall of fame, even better than a guy like chuck howley or randy gradishar.so i have an interesting question for you. i know how fans of the steelers, raiders, cowboys, vikings, 49ers, and broncos always complain that their teams are under-represented in the hall of fame. but all teams have multiple hall of famers, and 5 of the 6 have over 10. in my opinion, the cincinnati bengals have been screwed the most times by the hall of fame comitte, 7 or 8 potentially deserving players, and only 1 dude in. but the bengals have been screwed so many times by everything that they are probably indifferent.
