Most Puzzling 2012 HOF rejections Among Finalists

The fact that none of the three wide receiver candidates was elected was kind of shocking. Cris Carter, Tim Brown and Andre Reed should all get in eventually, but the most surprising rejection of all was Carter's.He retired at second all-time in receptions with 1101 and over 100 of those catches were Touchdown receptions. What more does the guy have to do to be elected? It's a numbers game and too many candidates at the same position means that some deserving guy is sure to be rejected. This year it was Curtis Martin gaining election over Jerome Bettis, but The Bus' time will surely come, probably next year.Bill Parcells at age 70 is not going back to coaching. At his age, a spot in the broadcast booth makes a lot more sense. That's why his election should have been automatic. He turned franchises around, turning chumps into champs. He led four different teams into the playoffs and won two Super Bowls. Much like Carter's case there is a bit of incredulity on my part at Parcells' rejection. What more could he have done over his career and what are his perceived deficincies in the eyes of the voters? His election yesterday, politics aside, should have been a certainty..There was reportedly some conflict about electing two non-players,. Parcells and San Francisco 49ers long-time owner Edward De Bartolo Jr. in the same year. As a result neither one got in. Hall Of Fame electors should just vote as their consciences dictate and leave the backroom politicking to the Republicans at their National Convention in Tampa this Summer..-Phillies Archivist-
