The Hall of Fame List

Ooooh... I can't wait for the response to this one. Let me stand on the sidelines and watch, LOL. Where's The response?

Kraftwerk is one of the five most influential acts in rock history that is not enshrined in the Hall. There, I said it.If you're looking at rock and roll as boring meat and potatoes combos of bass-drums-and guitar, then of course you won't get their impact. When you look at rock and roll as a wide spectrum of groundbreaking, authority opposing music (which is the Cleveland institution's intention), then you'd get their huge influence on the electronic and modern/indie rock world.Take The Velvet Underground for example....they also had "weak North American sales" but you'd be laughed out of any room if you tried to say that Stevie Rray Vaughan or Rush had a bigger influence than them. It's not even remotely about sales, but entirely about being GROUNDBREAKING and influencing the PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY MAKE MUSIC.Trust me, there's a reason why Kraftwerk has been a nominee once on the Hall of Fame's ballot while Rush is still waiting in the wings.

I'm not too familiar with Kraftwerk. I listened to a few of their songs as provided by youtube but still couldn't say I had heard of them. That being said, there's always that one band you discover last. Doesn't mean they're last because they're unimportant, just your life experiences had you looking elsewhere until then. I'd have to give them time before I can judge properly.I think my favorite band that is currently eligible for the HoF but isn't in is the Electric Light Orchestra. I expect they'll be inducted though at some point.

Kraftwerk? Probably top 25 or so but come on if you include popularity at all as a criterium then Journey and Def Lepp have to be higher on the list. Obviously KISS and Alice Cooper are travesties that they aren't in! I can make a strong point for many other more popular acts such as Foreigner and Boston and Reo! Speak about a genre getting ignored how about the Arena rock sounds that have dominated classic rock radio for 30 years. REally only Van Halen and Aerosmith are in from that era and that genre. And though not a big fan not having Rush in is silly.

I'm very familiar with Kraftwerk but I have to agree with the notion that having them as #1 is an absurdity. Someone mentioned Stevie Ray Vaughan as being less significant or relevant yet he came along and put the blues back into the limelight, inspiring countless artists and injecting a jolt of life back into the blues scene for some legacy artists.Kiss belongs much higher on the list for sure. Some people might argue that they weren't the best musicians however that argument would also apply to The Ramones, The Velvet Underground, and Iggy Pop who are revered in certain music or critic circles (albeit not in mine). The level of popularity and resounding influence they generate to this day should be proof alone. Call 'em what you will but you can't argue with their sheer numbers alone. Then you have to give them some props for soldiering on for 35 years as well. Not too many bands can make that claim. I honestly believe that Kiss belongs in the top slot...but just my opinion.LL Cool J is to Rock and Roll what ice cream is to auto repair. The committe has the common sense of the Grammy people. BTW...I was at the HOF two years ago and ran into Tom Morello in the lobby. He paid his admission for himself and his guest and wandered up asking me which way to start out to tour the museum. After chatting a bit a nearby HOF empolyee heard me ask him to sign a postcard. It wasn't until they knew he was "somebody famous" that he was even recognized...and ironic enough they were featuring a special tribute to Lollpalooza in the museum at the times. Idiots.

Upon further review I believe that the group who is most deserving to be in the hall and is not is the Sweet Sisters from Seattle. Ann and Nancy have impacted more artists than any other in the last 35 years! They opened the doors for so many more females to try and hang with the big boys in the real arena of rock. They may have got a little soft in the 80's but their 70's work matches with the best of the pure rock genre. Ever. Technical yet innovative and a legacy that will last forever. And ironically though they have impacted basically every woman artist since no one has been able to match what they did. Name another artist or group who has both a iconic lead singer who's voice is legendary and one of the best guitarists ever in the same group. and both are female. The HEART and soul of this legendary band is two ladies who know how to rock and can hang with any duo that leads a group from Jagger and Richards to Plant and Page ever. And man thye can still rock. Go see them sometime and wathc them cover some of Zeppelin's stuff. Nobody else even tries that and they make it their own. I love RUSH and Alice but these ladies need to go in before you do.

Megadeth.....if you have Pantera on there ....and Metallica (whom Dave Mustaine helped form) in the hall already....Then why not Megadeth? probly one of the best Thrash metal bands of all time...considered one of the "big four" of the Thrash Metal pioneers....included with Anthrax , Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica....(As seen on there crazy tour they did this summer in Europe) Heck...while we are at it...WHY NOT THE REST OF THE BIG FOUR??
